[citation][nom]Camikazi[/nom]Can you imagine what the other evil would do if the lesser evil were those guys?[/citation]Yes:
-The Cuban dude who Fidel Castro kicked out would not had turned to communism and filled the island with nuclear weapons pointing to USA.
-The Venezuelan president that Chavez wanted to thrown off would have remained in power, as he did anyways. But Venezuelan people would not had seen Chavez as a hero or USA as a menace to Venezuela democracy.
-Hussein would had not started the Kuwait war. Iran would not had started a nuclear race to defend itself from USA intervention.
-Argentina economy would had collapsed under socialist policies, as it did anyways, and should had be forced to rectify economic policies. No 30000 innocent students, teachers, journalists, philosophers, writers, etc would had being killed in name of USA. And the same would had being occurred on all South America. No human rights activists would be burning USA flags today. USA would not be despised for his human rights crimes.
The Falklands war would be avoided. South America would not had break from the rest of European cultures and siding with China. USA would control all the Americas market under NAFTA.
-Osama Bin Laden would had been just a bug to the soviets, accelerating his fall, as Afghanistan does today to USA. The twin towers would still be on New York. Iraq and Afghanistan war would had not destroyed the USA economy, and China would not be aiming to be the first economy in 10 years.

The whole purpose of denying access to social networking sites is to prevent people from spreading the word, no?

Seems like this maneuver just gave them more publicity...

I'm sure online gaming is what most people in Egypt are doing right now.

Ah, the Streisand Effect strikes again.

For all the people who were for that net neutrality here in the US, THIS is the end result when you start letting the government take control of the internet.
----

Please, stop it. Anyone who claims this has no idea what exactly Net Neutrality stands for. Without immediate intervention, you WILL see ISP's segregate the internet, as is already starting to happen. One price for youtube, another for Twitter, and a global cap of 100MB/month. No thank you.

A better example would be Japan, South Korea, Europe, and most anywhere else where business is actually forced to treat all data equally.

[citation][nom]mayankleoboy1[/nom]so at least the government realizes the power of the internet[/citation]
Yet they still underestimate peoples anger.
If they killed internet in my country there will be people marching to capital city. Its very easy change peoples anger to rage, but then its about impossible to stop that rage because most things you do will just increase it.

So you can see alternate futures huh? Guessing is fun and all but don't assume you are right. I'm not saying the alternative would be worse but you can't just say it would be cause of what did happen. This ain't a book, the alternative to a bad guy is not always a good guy :p

Obviously the ones who promoted dictators were really bad at predicting alternate futures.

The dudes who Fidel Castro and Chavez replaced were obviously much better than his replacements. It's not necessary to guess that.

Videla achieved nothing good.

Bin Laden did NOT attacked USA because such a naive "he didn't liked the American way of life", not any other lame Bush excuse.

Vietnam war was lost, and no one of the doomsayers predictions turned true.

Guantánamo torture center was a complete fail.

Let me predict the future:
-USA protegee Karzai is the next headache for USA.
-Egyptians will be very angry at USA after Mubarak is removed.
-Iraq will be more dangerous to USA than before the last war.
-Emirates dictators will be eventually removed, and replaced with angry people, with loads of money, and modern weapons sold by USA (Exactly like Iran).

You have yet to produce a problematic situation that cannot be resolved by a military campaign, or the fear of one. Im not talking invasion here. We can bomb our problem away, remember how we trained Muammar al-Gaddafi to stfu in the late 90s?

[citation][nom]sparky2010[/nom]One thing i keep thinking of is from the original (and to me, the only) Matrix, when Morpheus is captured and is being interrogated, Agent Smith tells him that humans are a plague, a cancer to the planet earth.... so yeah, we're a cancer, and we've multiplied and screwed our planet almost to breaking point.. and now that we're running out of food, natural resources, heating up the atmosphere, and now with the recent global crisis adding to the extremely large global unemployment and the large amount of poor people/countries, well, basically what i'm trying to say is,the world's going to hell![/citation]

And what exactly was wrong with reloaded and revolutions? Having seen for the first time, beginning to end, each movie within a short period of time (bought the ultimate Matrix collection) I have to say the entire series was fantastic. The problem I think was that the "punchline" of the Matrix was all known and released in the first movie. This lead the following two movies with nothing more to do than explain the story a little more and show some action in the process. I see it in the same light as the LoTR series. Two Towers and Return of the King followed the same exact path and everybody loved it. Really, what happened in Two Towers/RoTK?...battles, story, and more battles. The only things I can think of is that A) nobody understood what the architect was 'babbling about' and hence though it was stupid and B) nobody quite understood the martyr role Neo played and were sorely disappointed when there wasn't an over the top battle of Neo winning.

They can all be bombed back to the stone age, or even better, to extinction. All you need is some political will.

Afghanistan is already on the stone age... And 10 years of war had not defeated Afghans.

Cuba was bombed ¿Remember Cochino's bay?

Iraq was razed to the floor.

Vietnamese had been massively bombed. Remember this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfDb5FBP-Q8

Lesson learned? Now USA kills the journalists:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZNJm35V2_0

Of course you don't care.

You argue in favor of training dictators, excuse killing, kidnap, and torture civilians, without any trial.

"All you need is some political will"

The point is to avoid graphic pictures, videos, reports of police killing protestors. That, to the Egyptian government, is more dangerous than increasing already existing sympathy by a small amount.

So the people who were watching from within their homes, on the Web (because no TV channel would have truthfully covered it) had to go on the streets to see what's happening.

You can't just go killing everyone you disagree with, the US isn't all powerful nor do we have unlimited coffers to accomplish such a task. Heck, we still borrow money from other countries just to fight our current 2 wars against a bunch of people in caves or insurgents guerrillas. Eventually, if we piss off enough of the world, we'll just end up going the way of the all the other world dominating empires of the past, on the plus side, we will probably get an entire quarter of a history class dedicated to us, maybe even a semester.
