Emachines T2792 added ram

I have an
emachine
2.70 ghz
80gb
256mb 2100
512mb 2700 i think

my question is if anyone knows if i am allowed to have 2 different memory types a 256 and a 512? Upon installing it have have seen no visible improvements and i still use 250mb of my pagefile. Is there a way to offload this to my ram? thanks for any help.

First thing you need to do is make sure your computer will handle PC2700 RAM. Next thing you need to do is make sure the PC700 RAM is in the first bank of memory modules.

Your pagefile is stored on your hard drive.. it is totally seperate from your RAM.
