I had my first experience with a party member bailing when their vitality
bar ran out last night. I honestly don't know what to think of that. My
first thoughts are simply that I find it a bit shallow.

Anyone else seen this?

What a mook. (The bailer, not you) What's ironic is that the XP
calculation has NOT changed one bit since the vitality meter was
implemented. You always got the bonus before, you just didn't have a little
arrow telling you so.

I've not teamed since the introduction of the ar, but yes - it sounds
a bit shallow. He or she loses the bonus, true, but the normal xp you
get from killing bigger monters should help compensate.

So does that mean that they are not going to log in and try to level until
they get their vitality back up? If that's the case I guess they want to
play for 4 days, take off for 4 days, etc etc.

Doesn't sound to good to me.

It does run out, at least on the adventuring side. I haven't managed
to make much more than a dent in the tradeskilling side, so that one is
always maxed for me. The adventuring one tends to get used up rather
quickly (at least in my case).

That is crazy, not sure what is going on then. When we are in PF, it
takes one, maybe two kills before the .5% vitality that you get per
hour is used up. Last night I had about 14% vitality when I logged
in (adventuring). Less than an hour later, it was dry - but that
includes one quest completion and progress on a book quest (not sure if
each page gives an xp bonus or not).

One thing that is possible is the xp bars are messed up. The top and
bottom bar don't agree with each other. I didn't think that issue
applied to the vitality marker, since it is external to the bars, but I
guess it is a possibility.

I've been wondering if it runs out...

So far, on both characters that I play, both tradeskill and regular
vitality has been showing it goes on through the next level, for 3 levels
of tradeskilling on one, and 2 levels of adventuring on the other.

In the course of 3 days, I've done almost 2 full adventuring levels on my
Mystic, and the vitality arrow has remained indicating that my vitality
will continue into the next level. For the tradeskilling one, over the
course of 3 days I have dinged 3 levels with the same results.

I was crafting elm strong boxes the other day, including all the sub-
combines, and noticed that my crafting bar was only ticking down .1%
(that's one tenth of one percent) per item crafted. I didn't notice if that
amount increased on the actual box combines, themselves, but all combines
were green IIRC.

There are a couple of possibilities:

1. Since adventure and crafting vitality are tracked seperately, the person
could be going to concentrate for a while on crafting while letting their
adventure vitality recover a bit.

2. The person could be an alt-aholic (like me) and be switching to another
character with a full vitality and play that character, and the next, and
the next, while the vitality of the original character recovers. (I tend to
do this a little bit, though honestly I haven't run down my vitality points
completely yet with any character, and I certainly wouldn't leave a group
just because vitality hit 0%.)

Neither really seems a valid reason to disband from an active group to me,
but I can certainly see why someone would want to maximize their experience
gain if they are either a crafter or an alt-aholic.
