2019-09 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4516065)

Error 80092004

I've tried to install this a few times. Every attempt thereafter failed, with the above error.

Trying to install 2020-01 Security and Quality Rollup for .net Framework 3.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2, 4.8 for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB4535102) also returns the same error. But I was asked to restart the computer....

I understand I am not the first person to see this error, nor are these the first updates to return this error. Perhaps there was some little fix published at some point to help these two updates install correctly?

Stand Alone security updates KB4474419 and KB4490628 released to introduce SHA-2 code sign support. KB4474419 is already installed on this computer. I installed KB4490628.

Will restart and try again. Edit this post one way or the other.

Edit:

Apparently, not having KB4490628 is what tripped up the later updates. I know I was never offered the update through Windows Update. I had to wade through similar complaints and technical documents describing the problem and the resolutions, be able to understand what I was reading to some degree, and download the correct packages for my operating system. I can imagine this would overwhelm a lot of people, and I have to ask if Microsoft ever improved their Windows updating solutions to the point this sort of thing doesn't really happen with Windows 10?

/end of rant.
