Question Ethernet problems

Hello! I am having some trouble with my ethernet. If I switch to wifi, everything works fine, but if I use ethernet, i open google chrome and it says "your connection is not private". I am on windows 10 and dont know too much about all of this stuff. Ive tried flushing my dns, restarting my pc, and router, but no luck so far. The ethernet was working fine up until a few days ago, as far as I know, I did not download anything during that time frame. Any help is welcomed and appreciated, thanks again!

That error says that you have a problem with the SSL. There should be additional error codes that help identify what type of error you are having.
Have you ever used a VPN or a proxy of any kind ?

The error code in windows diagnostics says that it appears that its correctly configured, but the dns server is not responding. I have used a vpn in the past but not on this laptop.

Yeah it looks like there isn't a light on the laptop. The other end of the cable most likely plugs into the router. Do you see lights right where that plugs in? I'm trying to determine the state of the physical connection.

You should contact your college IT helpdesk.

the helpdesk is closed for 2 weeks for remodeling, which is why i came here.

There may be a specific administrative reason why you aren't able to connect and your help desk would be the only people that could help you. Trust me if this was a residential connection i'd proceed in helping you, but there's most likely administrative variables implemented by your college that may be affecting your connection.

The college may have a proxy that you should be configured for. A forum won't be much help, IMO. You need the IT help desk. They must still have an e-mail or chat option available even if their physical location is remodeling. Ask your RA for help in contacting the IT help desk.
