While in the Carribian islands I had my notebook serviced
for an internet problem. When I got back to the states I
went to use it and now everything ( all the captions,
prompts, etc.) is in French...no English to be found
anywhere. The operating system is Windows 98. How can I
get it back to English??

Please help.

Thank you.

Congratulations on a strong contender for Stupid Post of
the Month. You had your computer serviced somewhere far
from home, most likely in a foreign country, and you
didn't bother to turn it on and find out if the problem
was fixed beofre returning home? You post a problem with
Win 98 in a Win XP newsgroup?
Whomever it was that "fixed" you computer apparently
installed a French version of the OS. If this is the case
you have two options: learn French (not likely, as you
don't seem to have mastered English yet) or reinstall
Windows using an English version.

The service department installed the wrong version.
The language can not be changed.
Your only fix is a Clean Installation of Windows 98 using your CD.
All data will be lost, back-up important data before you start.

Also since this is a Windows XP newsgroup, you should take this to a
Windows 98 newsgroup:

As for the question at hand....you took it to have it serviced while you were away, now that you are back I would suggest taking it to have it serviced at home!
