Hi guys
Im looking at buying an evga 680i off of a guy for a project im doing (and ive always wanted to do some sort of sli) now the guy said that the system that the board came out of had random lockups sometimes. Now he only wants $10 so if i cant fix it then who cares its a nice decoration piece if i put some gtx 280's in it with the pretty coolers. Anyway back to my point, can anyone think of something that could be causing this and a fix, my thought train was: cmos clear (possibly bad oc) then if that fails id probably try a bio flash.
Cheers guys

The EVGA 680i is a motherboard and not a GPU.

As for the lock ups it could be as simple as a bad driver, bad BIOS setting, wrong voltage or as bad as bad component on the board itself. It will just take testing to find out.

thats good o hear actually because i know that the system had a q9550 in it so that could be what was causing it. i have a Q6600 so ill chuck that in it.

Facepalming SO hard right now.

OH MY GOD $10 GONE GOD WHAT AMI GOING TO DO...
i really dont care if the board doesnt function all the time it's physically a nice looking mobo and i want to put 3 Asus gtx 260's in it because they have a nice cooler for decoration. If the mobo ends up working then thats great it can go on my testbench project.

what are you going to do?

remember tha this forum is accesed worldwide, those 10 dollars are for some of us, the salaray of 1 day of work

sorry for thinking in your budget and in your economy

do whatever you want with your money and most important, don't ask us if it is a good or bad idea to spend 10 of your dolars

.... at what point in any of my comments or the post its self did i: "ask us if it is a good or bad idea to spend 10 of your dolars "
never thats when. if im building a pc then im obviously not in some country where $10 is a days wage thats just stupid if i was earning that much id be having problems paying for basic things so here's an idea just a suggestion for you: Use some common sense really.

i used it, i have that economy here, use your sense first and if 10 dollars are nothign for you and you wanted to play, why did you asked about the card and the problem? already answered that if the bios update works, it is all you can really do apart of playing with capacitors and the rest of componets untill you kill it or fix it
