Question Excellent Download Speed, Dreadful Upload Speed - Ethernet

I have a 4 year old Dell desktop. About 2 years ago I moved to Full Fibre and am getting anything between 750 - 950Mbps download according to Ookla. However, I'm at best getting 0.5Mbps upload speed, and frequently much worse. This was a sudden change a few months ago and I have read lots of forums / threads looking for an answer but not found one that works for me.

I have disabled virtually everything in Startup, turned off IPv6, turned off everything I possibly can. It is only this machine that has the issue. My much older Lenovo Win10 laptop doesn't have an issue, neither does my work laptop. Both my iPad & iPhone also work fine with good download & upload speeds via wifi. As an example, my iPhone is currently giving me 447Mbps download, 109Mbps upload (wifi). My Lenovo laptop is giving 131Mbps download / 109Mbps upload.

The FullFibre BT broadband device is sitting on top of the desktop, it is connected via the cable provided with the BT device. I have checked the firmware on the BT device, checked the drivers for the network adaptor in the desktop, etc.

Any help or advice on what is causing the awful upload speed would be gratefully received.

You have a Killer ethernet adapter. The software for the killer devices purposefully lowers upload traffic to prioritize game traffic.
Uninstall any network optimizer software.
OR don't worry about your upload speed and allow the software to prioritize game traffic over other things.

Upload speed is important - I don't online game, I'm a photographer and need to share my images. Uploading 4 Jpegs today to my OneDrive took over 30 minutes, and couldn't get OneDrive to provide a sharing link to the folder.

OK, then you need to clean out the killer network support software that is limiting your upload.
There is a driver that has none of the "optimization" software.
If you search for "killer network" on this board you will find lots of similar threads.

It worked, thank you very much. Up to 110Mbps upload speed now
