I am using a audio old editor, Cool Edit Pro 2.1. It's very old yet it was an industry standard and I still prefer it to Adobe's Audition Software. Adobe bought Cool Edit and made it much more difficult to use in my opinion. Anyways, I digress, When Cool Edit Pro 2.1 gets the end of a audio file it's playing back in both the edit view and multi-track view it will crash. I always have to stop it before the end to stop it from crashing.

I read somewhere that I needed to disable DEP support for that one program so I did and I still have the problem.

I would not expect anyone out there to know much about Cool Edit but perhaps there is someone that can shed some light on a possible fix with the error log below. That would be much appreciate.

Stop: 0xc0000005 is a very generic error and could be caused by most anything.

Try these first:

1. Open a command window and type "chkdsk c: /f /v /r" (without quotes) then hit <enter>. Answer the resulting message with a Y, then reboot. This'll take a while.

2. Download memtest86 ( http://www.memtest86.com/ ), burn it to CD, boot it and run at least 3 complete cycles on each stick of RAM individually in each slot followed by pairs, alternating slots between tests (gonna take a LONG while).

Corrupted file system or failing drive, and failed RAM are the 2 most likely suspects.
