External Firewire HD with SP2

Unfortunately, an unforseen side effect of installing SP2
is that my external firewire hard drive no longer show
up. I've tried messing with firewall settings,
restarting, etc, etc. But no success. Any suggestions?

Am I to understand from the lack of replies that nobody
else knows how to deal with this problem?

Have you tried going to Device Manager and deleting the 1394 drivers, then
rebooting to reload the drivers? This often solves the problem.

Although no help to you, my firewire external drive works fine with SP2.
Your problem does not seem to be an inherent problem with the update
although it appears you are not alone with the problem.
