external hard disk showing up in weird way in windows explorer

hello please anyone help me on this peculiar iissue befor wen i used to open e. hard disk partition on my computer it directly veiwed the files and folders inside which was normal and ok .... but yesterday i when i clickd open the k drive which is external hard disk, it didnt show the as usual it show another icon of k drive inside though wen i clicked it showed the files and folders as before ... im really confused here so please anyone any suggestions for this issue
 
Drive letters are assigned when the system boots up. So they can change depending upon what is attached at the time of booting. USB drives can cause drive letters to change around. There is also a way to assign local drive letters to drives on other machines on the same network called mapping, i.e. "mapping" a local drive letter to a machine/drive on the network to which you have access. Look at Windows Explorer->Tools->Map Network Drive.

It's also possible to map a local drive partition or folder to another drive letter using the same procedure. For example you might have a hard drive partitioned as C: and D:. You can map D:\ to F:. In that example D: and F: will use the same partition.
