Hi guys, so I'm currently running this:

Windows 8.1 64Bit
i5 4th @ 3.20GHz
16GB DDR3
MSI Z97-G43
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050ti (EVGA)

Ever since I put it together, I've had no problems at all, until today. I bought a third monitor, one running at a slightly higher resolution than the others, and since then it hasn't really booted into Windows properly. In addition to the three monitors, I have a Parblo Coast 10 USB Graphics tablet (Using the DisplayLink software)

If I try and boot into windows with all four devices plugged in, it will get past the Windows boot screen, the login screen flashes up, then the PC resets. It will do this until recovery mode.

Now, if I boot into Windows with only three monitors plugged in (2 monitors and my tablet) it will boot fine, then I can plug in my final monitor after boot and it has absolutely no issues at all. If I boot with three monitors, then plug my tablet in after boot, boom - restart. These issues have only been there since I attached my new monitor to the system.

My 2 old monitors are on DVI (One DVI to DVI, one DVI to HDMI, no adapter ) and my new one is running on Display port.

I've cleaned and reinstalled drivers and I've done the normal troubleshooting stuff, but I've had no luck thus far

Does anyone have any ideas as to why Windows isn't letting me boot with all of these devices? I would really rather not have to keep unplugging one monitor every time I want to boot into Windows.

Thanks!

My best guess is that the graphics card can’t handle starting up with 3 monitors so there is too much stress on it causing problems with your computer
Could that be down to power consumption or just the GPU not being able to handle it? Baring in mind that this is the GPU with the small form factor, so it takes all of its power from its PCIe slot

I’m not so sure but I’m going to say the gpu is probably not able to handle starting up with three monitors because like you said you can plug the monitor in once the pc is past booting so I don’t think its a power issue

It seems strange considering the Tablet is powered by USB - but I think it must be either the GPU or the PSU. That's if it isn't software, which is also a possibility :/

According to EVGA any of the 1050 Ti cards i looked up only support 3 monitors. Its normally hard enough to get 3 monitors running with different resolutions. Now your throwing in a 10" screen that runs at 1280x 800 so you have 3 different resolutions and adding 1 extra screen that you card should handle.

Alright, this makes sense. If this is the case, do you know of any reason why it will work with all 4, after I have booted? It all seems to be about when the tablet display kicks in
