I can't blame them... the UN, through the EU is eating up individual national sovereignty... slowly and gradually. (Think frog in a boiling pot of water speeds.) And we got politicians here in the US that want to throw away our sovereignty to these same worldwide-government bureaucrats. Of course this is being done in the name of "globalization."

I'd be happy if California broke up into at least two States, if not the five that some have talked about. Rural Californians would be happy campers not being under the thumb of LA and SF. (I could wish Illinois did the same and leave Chicago to be its own City-State.)

As to the middle east, there's been fighting there among themselves for many centuries and it hasn't stopped yet regardless of what non-middle-east sovereign nation (or the UN for that matter) gets involved. Much of it is Islamic religion differences... and then again, the old-world favorites play a role too: power and control.

No, they (and I) voted for Brexit because we're sick & tired of incidents such as Rotherham happening (and dozens of others), Lee Rigby, London Bridge, etc. However, the choice of the people is being watered down to nothing. All heading to a Flashback future IMO.

"Yeah that fantasy land isn't working out so well. "

Good summary! Heh, you really should read Flashback (by Dan Simmons), it's rather interesting, and in the context of what's going on in Europe I wonder whether it'll end up being sadly accurate.

1 - Sure thing. You keep telling yourself that while new waves of people come in to live off your government services.

2 - No, I'm saying it's NOT GOVERNMENT that starts civil wars as you referenced. It's the PEOPLE who do.

3 - Your news hides information like that. Sky, AFP, and UK based news specifically. Rapes and murders by "immigrants" can't be hidden. Except if you don't know about it. I've even heard stories of people being threatened with JAIL if they speak out against them. I'd also like to remind you there's a big backlash ongoing against the out of control immigrant wave in Europe. When the people have had enough, they'll rise up. And they are irrespective of the threats of what little freedoms they have will be taken away by jail. We fought wars to prevent tyranny and civil liberties being taken away.

4 & 5 - People like you who abuse the racism word are as pathetic as they come. You see comments you don't agree with then shout RACIST! like a mindless child. Then again, it's clear you are an apologist who is afraid of the truth and the failure of your own EU governments, so that goes without saying. What race is an immigrant? That's what I thought.

Regarding criminals being released, we have things called the National Guard and firearms (300 million of them to be exact) for protection against them should they try and rise up in any civil breakdown. That's our Second Amendment. It is clear you are young who has lot to learn in life. Finally, DO NOT EVER TELL ME WHAT TO OR NOT TO SAY. IS THAT CLEAR? That's our First Amendment.

Well according to the genius here I've been dealing with, those events don't ever happen.

Interesting! I like stuff like that. I hate to see Europe/UK go down. I really do. But they have a LOT of changes that need to happen to preempt it.

How refreshing. A fellow adult around here who lives in the real world for a change to have a grown up discussion with!

Well I've thought about that a lot. The problem however is that it would create one new US Senate seat and at least one new US House Rep. seat in Congress for every new state. That can easily shift power of the Senate and House. California's only big tangible industry left is agriculture. But that's not a safety net for them because the trend now is farm to table with locally sourced produce and meats. Tech industry can come and go, but industry stays. The last US auto and aircraft manufacturing jobs packed up and moved from California years ago.

A state that apparently feels it's more important to spend $100 billion on a high speed train to nowhere instead of a human basic like water resources. Let alone attracting industry back like another Boeing or GM assembly plant. I've had two Pontiac Firebirds. One built in Van Nuys CA in 1987, and the second built in 1994 in a new GM assembly plant in Canada. GM closed the Van Nuys Camaro/Firebird (F-body) plant and moved it to Canada during the fourth generation updated car in 1993. I believe a strip mall shopping center is on the location where the Van Nuys plant was. Yeah - lose thousands of high paying jobs to be replaced with hundreds of minimum wage retail jobs. Way to go Gov. Moonbeam!

There's a lot of denial around Europe. Rule 2: SJWs always double-down (rule 1 is, they always lie).

Let's just say it's a plot that Hollywood would never make into a movie. :}

Alas I think its beyond the point of no return for some places, including the UK, Germany, Sweden, Belgium and probably France aswell. Eastern Europe is doing ok; it's as if enduring the yolk of communism has immunised them against cultural marxism, whereas in western Europe vast numbers are immersed in a collective, virtue signalling guilt-trip, as people and politicians run around seeing who can pander to the perceived victim groups the most (some of it pushed by feminism gone mad), scarcely realising their own behaviour is the most racist of all (the sodt bigotry of low expectations), while the media piles on the cultural self-hatred.

What's hillarious is the hypocrasy in the verdict about Facebook and C.A. So it's bad for companies to sneakily gather data and try to influence voter opinion, but it's perfectly ok for mainstream media organisations to outright and continuously lie in order to favour their preferred candidate, and then when they lose it's ok to spend 18 months encouraging the idea of the winner being assassinated (when Trump won, I think only 3% of the WHPC were Rep supporters; or was it zero, can't recall). It's like moaning about a dripping tap when there's dam bursting right next door. Project Veritas, wikileaks and other sources exposed much of what goes on, but it's interesting that the media only then cares about how a leak occured, not what it revealed (further leaks then shows all they care about is damage liimitation, not the fact that they've done anything wrong). And again the hypocrasy, they care about leaks when they're the ones being damaged by revelations (so security matters!), but they're perfectly happy to accept confidential information from govt insiders when they want to score some dirt on someone they don't like, etc. (so security doesn't matter).

I wonder why the max fine was originally set so low. Can't help thinking the whole system is just for token gesture, nothing more. The govt loves Facebook, it's an amazing spying tool, and many western govts actively work with FB against their citizens' interests, eg. in Germany the FB-related spying programme is run by a woman who used to be a senior person in the old East German secret police (real nasty piece of work). Kraut covered it way back:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUmN80JB8cA

Likewise, his piece on antifa being allowed to run amock in Europe is spot on (mainstream media doesn't cover this sort of thing, because of course one can't criticise violent leftists):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUlC7oVEtrk

I've quite literally heard UK BBC radio presenters praising communism, which is staggering. It's almost as if the 100M dead in the last century+ just never happened.

As Trump put it, Venezuela is the mess it is because socialism there was implemented perfectly.

Or as Churchill once said, "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its iherant virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

Ian.

^^Well said. When the lunatics take over the asylum is what Europe is going through. ANTIFA here knows better than to do that in a gun toting Red State where stand your ground laws exist and Freedom Riders are in packs. They only terrorize their own cities run by their fellow leftists. When I was last in Europe about 20 years ago, I was so glad to be back in the US. Most do not realize how limited their liberties really are there, which includes their press there which EU government nations do not grant complete freedom of the press like we have here (as leftist biased as our own media is). I don't even think EU nations have something comparable to our Freedom Of Information Act. And all leftists now think communism should be tried here in the US or there in the EU. It's education indoctrination. Fools know not what they do not know. Their mindset is that someone having more possessions/money than someone else is not fair. They'd rather sink a cruise ship with 3,000 people on it to save 5 people in a dingy. Bring everyone else down to less fortunate levels. Equality at all costs. As crazed a mentality if I ever heard of one.

Back to that pathetically low fine, I'll bet a month's pay that didn't even cover the cost of the entire investigation. FB will continue to become more belligerent. As you said, governments (federal, state, local) love it. The only way I see FB being taken down is if companies and individuals just stop using it. Sadly in our ever more expanding "convenience" mentality, especially among younger people, I don't see that ever happening. Email has all but become outdated now as people communicate through their FB accounts with family photos, vacation photos, and other important events in life. If you email people a bunch of photos, you are chastised these days - that is if said recipients even check their email anymore.

Seriously, they got off light. Zuckerberg probably has that in his couch cushions. :sarcastic:
