Hope it doesnt lag too much with a Core 2 Duo E7500 😛

Because that's what I have 😛

[citation][nom]bhamx2[/nom]tbh i dont think devs have it in their best interest to make games that will test the power of a 5970... otherwise we'd have another crysis on our hands meaning mainstream gamers have to wait 3 years to have the hardware to run as it was intended.[/citation]

I hear ya, and as I said the true value in these games are the mod-ability of them, and I agree with Jazz84. Nothing beats pure solid game play. But a little kick in the graphics department would be a god send, even if they just add DX11 features.
I would like to see another 'crysis' though, I think it adds much needed perspective to the pc world. Its all about the "Look what we can do!" and it challenges PC enthusiasts and hardware manufactures to do the same in regards to pushing the most out of what they have.

[citation][nom]lejay[/nom]If a game requires too much(crysis) you kids get pissed and if it requires too little you get pissed... You really should spend your time hitting on girls instead.[/citation]

Only people who should be getting pissed are the individuals who fail to read the system req, prior to purchasing the game, who have a system not up to specs.
On the subject of hitting on girls, as they are a completely different topic all together I hardly see how such an activity would remedy rage displayed by certain individuals in the gaming/pc enthusiast community.

From reading a lot of these comments, I have to wonder, do a lot of you even want to play a game or do you just want a new benchmarking tool?

I want to be able to play games on my 4870 and still be blown away by the graphics.....basically I want a cake and a fork with a bib.

Then get another 4870 and crossfire. You will be blown away.

I almost was about to put my order in until i read:
The PC version will use Valve's Steam for DRM, requiring gamers to set up an account during installation. However Steam will also offer player achievements, cloud save storage, and other features.
I don't care if they use DRM, its the fact the steam sucks. I own the Orange Box and didn't install because you need steam. I am all for logging into say a Bethesda server to authenticate, but to have to use a third party auth. service(Steam) to do so...SUCKS!

Steam sucks?! Steam is the best thing that has happened to computer gaming in these last years...

My biggest beef would be the cloud-storage... where you the player, in addition to the publisher or Steam apparently has no permission even with your blessings, to go and clean out... Unless Bethesda is smarter than Activision on how they handle it.

hello people , did you really expect high system demands here ????

it uses same engine as fallout 3/ oblivion, an engine for the record that is now 4 years old (oblivion was released in 2006). it'slike a UT based Game release , you should expect great play on low hardwareware specs

as for game play , this is great , i got rather tired of the old days where every new game brought your system to it's knees, right after you just updated. i'drather play teh game , and enjoy it than just test my hardware , get crapresults then say ho hum while i toss the disk to the side for two years waiting for hardware that can actually play it.

2 people that obviously haven't ever actually used steam before

steam's "cloud" is really jsut a data tracking theme that tracks player progress and achievments no different than the way xboxlive does , so really you have nothing to worry about

to HavoCnme that just sites "steam sucks" , i like to ask how so ?
you state no reasons for steam sucking and jsut going off your comment you did make, it ius assumable that steam is really no different than if they did use online authentication , so where's the difference that qualifies steam for sucking and securom (the other online authentication system) for not sucking? i really gather from your comment you just oppose DRM in any shape or form.

[citation][nom]aford10[/nom]Don't get too upset with the game developers. With 512MB of RAM, that's barely enough to run vista or W7 well.[/citation]

what do you mean barely able to run vista or win 7 , Sh-- that is barely enough to run win xp hoenstly especially if your system is clogged with typical off teh shelf bloatware.LOL my first win xp system had 1gig ram , i upgraded it to 2 gigs reccently and its still in limited use in the other room , my current system im runing win xp on 3 gigs of ram

Oblivion brought every system to it's knees in it's time. And an 4 years old engine as you say, it would not harm anyone to upgrade the engine. At least with Directx 10 enhancements (FO3 didnt had it, and Vegas also don't have, correct?). Now its not a bad think to have cutting adge Tech incorporated. It would only give the game a longer life cause the experience of gaming would only increase as it's life passes. Different than a game that already looks obsolete on its launch date. I have FO3 and will buy FOV but some more eye-candy would have been nice.

I don't see your point here. Did you actually play Fallout 3? It was "Games for Windows Live", meaning you needed a XBox Live account to play and update the game.
My doubt here is why didn't they just used Steam services in the first place?
With steam you just launch the game and you're ready to go. With Live, I first launch the game and sometimes wait an eternity until it logs in and validates my account, specially when it remembers there is an update to Live and you can't play before updating...

Personally I was not into Steam-like services... until I tried it! It's this kind of services that are keeping PC gaming alive. No hard copies to scratch and brake at home, no dusty DVDs, the game is available for download from your account in any PC, etc...

I've seen XP running on systems with 128MB RAM. It's at least is usable at 512MB.

I usually recommend at least 1GB for XP and 2GB for Vista and W7.

I don't actually use steam, but from the looks of it, I don't think it's bad at all. I don't see what's so wrong with it. Low required specs is also a plus.

I'll admit I don't care for DRM. It's a waste of resources as crackers routinely break DRM within a short period of time after it is released. AND all it does is irritate and inconvenience the honest user. Does that stop me from using Steam, Games for Windows Live, or other DRM protected software? No. (Forcing me to HAVE an Internet connection whenever I wish to play will stop me from buying or even playing though... Get a clue Ubisoft!... as sometimes I am without an Internet connection.)

As far as steam goes, I use it... My beef in particular is COD:MW2... some joker with a hacked/modded server boosted stats/XP. And now.... Activision excuses the inability to reset it as they can't because it's in the cloud. Steam support can't do it either (lack of authorization from the higher-ups is my guess there.) I find the fun in doing my own leveling, not in hacking/modding stats and abilities like a cheater. (uninstall-reinstall don't work... the stats and XP are SAVED in the cloud and synced for our "convenience."

Please don't jump to conclusions and assume lack of experience with something.

No, actually you didn't need to log in to GFWL to play Fallout 3. You only needed to log in if you wanted achievements.

Steam is something that I won't use. Period. I do not want another program running in the background, as well as preventing legitimate resale if I find the product not to my liking.
