gotta see if i can find it somewhere, never played it.
Oh, I see now why you love Far Cry (no pun intended). I was thinking why some people would so adamantly disagree with my assessment of Far Cry. Hmmm. I did not mean to toot my own horn when I said that I own and have played well in excess of 250 games. I simply meant to say that it gives me a huge basis for comparison. And that guy who said above that he is not new to PC gaming stating that he owns some 75 games has a point, but I am still three times more experienced a gamer than he is
😀
That said, I will try to illustrate my Far Cry assessment by way of an unrelated example: If you are lucky (and cursed at the same time), like me you may have had some amazing experiences with some truly remarkable women. Alas, nothing lasts forever and often times people go their separate ways. Well, I have found it difficult to become interested in any of the women I have been meeting lately because they all pale in comparison to those with whom I had the pleasure to be in the past.
The same “principle” applies to gaming. If I had nothing better to pitch Far Cry against I would probably love it. But Far Cry after System Shock and DeusX feels somewhat castrated, sort of like Diablo 2 compared to Baldur’s Gate 2.

Overrated: rag-doll physics; Underrated: gameplay
Overrated: eye-candy; Underrated: story

😱) Overrated: Far Cry; Underrated: System Shock 2
Problem with SS2 was that the game was SO much ahead of its time in every imaginable way (including hardware requirements) that it never became very popular. But, hey, Mozart is not popular, like some Ace of Base, but is there really any contest? There are short-lived cheap things and there are timeless classics...
EDIT: If you do find and choose to play SS2, be advised that it does not work under WinXP but there is an unofficial XP patch (google it). And to save you the trouble you will need the official multiplayer patch because it allows you to edit game’s *.cfg files manually. This is important because in the original game release weapons used to degrade way too quickly and you found yourself hunting for repair tools a lot. With this patch you can set the rate of weapon deterioration to whatever you feel is realistic. You can even set it to none if you find this aspect of the game annoying.
LOL, come to think of it, I finished Far Cry in about 20 hours and never touched it again. I’ve replayed SS2 some 10 times. . . SS2 fits on ONE CD. . . SS2 offers at least 50 hours of amazing gameplay. . .
