Is it normal that i get like 20-25 fps in max setting with 1280x1024... I think its pretty low . i get better fps in halo...

My own beast: Athlon 2700xp+ (oc: 3200xp+ with 200fsb) , Radeon 9800pro (oc: 410/370) , 512mb ddr400. SO MUCH faster than my last computer (pIII 550......)

Of course you get better FPS than in Halo because Halo blows.

<font color=purple>AMD XP 2500+ @ 3200+/200, A7N8X Dlx, 512mb PC3200 Corsair XMS DDR, ATi 9800Pro, Audigy Platinum, 2/5 TB of storage, TDK 48x CDRW, Lite-On 16x DVD, XP Pro SP1, and more neon than a ghetto sled

Because this game is at demo, and part of the "way it was ment to be scr..." program, I would doubt that Ati has had a chance to optimize for it yet. Part of the reason for this demo release is to make the nvidia cards look good. Wonder what the newer detonators do for it?

We already have a Far Cry thread going, and we are all helping eachother in that one.

why not just buy the nvidia gfx5700, it's the best GFX GPU nvidia has made with that generation of processor (NV3.xx).

As far as far cry is concerned, it took me 1 hr to download it in gamespy and running 40fps on my 9600xt @ 800 * 600 and medium effects.

yes its normal, and you should considering lowering your setting. Just because you have a Radeon 9800 don't expect to be playing every new game at high detail!

With the auto detect setting on my Radeon 9700pro
1024x768 all settings on medium except for water Very High
I get 60-70fps outdoors, and 70-100 indoors.

At 1280x1024 I notice about a 10fps hit at the start so around 50-60fps, haven't checked indoors yet.

I find the best medium if you want to keep 1280x1024 is to set all the details on medium, except for water and special effects. I like to keep special effects on high, cause you can see the reflection in the scope!

This is all with the Omega Ati Drivers based on Version 3.10 Catalyst.

Are Specs are very simliar expect for the videocard.
