Faulty hard drive?

I have been having these problems with my computer. Its been randomly freezing/hanging completely to where I need to hold the power button down an restart it. I have been noticing the 3 disc led on my tower flashing rapidly. Its always been amber, when I guess its supposed to be green instead. I am thinking my freezing problem may be caused by the hard drive.

You can check the health of the hard disk by installing and running "HDTune" or "CrystalDisk".

Downloaded HD Tune and scanned my system hard drive and my external hard drive and both had 0 errors.

That is good news!

The next component to look at would be the RAM, Run memtest86 and check for errors. If the RAM is ok, then the likely culprit would be the PSU. Either an inadequate PSU or a failing PSU.

As it is randomly restarting itself this would point to the power supply as being faulty, either that or the motherboard is and I know what I would rather change. Also don't overlook the possibility of a virus causing your problem, have you reinstalled the operating system?
