FB-DIMM DDR2 800 or DDR2 800

it seems that everyone (or almost everyone ) is opting for 800mhz DDR2 but is anybody using or planning to use FB-DIMM DDR2 for their most likely conroe build.

i read an article on toms a couple weeks ago about the stuff (sorry no link) and it basically made it sound like wonder ram. i was planning on getting some for this next build but i noticed its hefty 500 dollar price tag for a 2GB kit.

does having the onboard buffer make that much of a performance difference to consider that price?

i was also wondering if FB DDR2 667 (800mhz) could be compared to DDR2 800 (1000mhz) performance wise.
