I have a problem when trying to open pictures on a removable compact flash
card.

When I insert the card into my reader I get the usual list of "what do you
want to do" about half way down the list of programs available I have an
eroneous one appearing which shows no icon and says need program (or
something like that) if I select it the computer freezes.

This is obvously left over from a graphics program I have had on the
computer and subsequently removed (have no idea which program).

I should like to remove this entry completely but have no idea how to do it
- I guess it's stored in the registry somewhere.

Can anyone help.

Thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,

Download CleanHandlers v2.0 utility from here:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/autoplayhandlers.htm

Do not delete any entries yet. Click the button titled "Detect invalid
Autoplay handlers" button. Post the contents of the resulting file here.

Many Thanks for such a prompt reply - will try this tonight when I get home,
you may have already solved the problem as it may well be Nikon View that's
causing problem

Hi again Ramesh

Have tried running the program but it says now problems:

+---------------------------------------+
CleanHandlers v2.0 - Problem Report
Author : Ramesh Srinivasan
Homepage: http://windowsxp.mvps.org
+---------------------------------------+

List of orphaned handlers for each Event
----------------------------------------
None found.......

List of Handlers with are missing information (Action or Provider)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
None found.......

This is NOT the case - it's still there!

I did try looking at the registry manually (didn't alter it) but really not
sure what to do anyway - there are just so many entries in the autoplay
section.

Any further advice would be most welcome

Graham,

Open Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers

Can you export the whole branch to a REG file, and send it to me via email ?
(remove "online." from my email id)
