In my mind the Alton giant is pansy. If I don't risk scratching up my finely chiseled good looks, I'd would have liked to take him down. My left jab would take out the Giant's will to live. Think about it.

Edit for writer's embellishments.

The mosquitoes and blackflies in Ontario are much worse than the ticks and chiggers here in Missouri. I've been up there multiple times and enjoy going fishing, but the bugs are a serious PITA.

I've never seen the painting you posted, although I have heard of the Alton Giant. Alton is in Illinois, though. The only thing I've seen painted on any of the bluffs was a Republic of Ireland flag with the text "Free Ireland" underneath it, which was painted along I-44 sometime in the late '90s.

It's the code name for a 130 nm NetBurst CPU die with L3 cache. The name comes from the Gallatin River, which is a river in Montana and Wyoming. This follows Intel's practice of naming CPUs after physical features in the northwestern U.S.

The Gallatin die originally was used for the Xeon MP with 1 or 2 MB of L3 cache, a 400 MHz FSB, and came in Socket 603. AMD's introduction of the original Hammer Opterons led Intel to repackage the Gallatin in Socket 604 with a 533 MHz FSB for use in two-socket servers to provide more performance than the L3-less, Northwood B-based "Prestonia" Xeons currently being used. The introduction of the Athlon 64 FX series had Intel repackage the Gallatin again, this time in Socket 478 with an 800 MHz FSB to make the very first Pentium 4 Extreme Edition CPU. Intel also bumped the L3 size in the top Xeon MPs to 4 MB and repackaged the Gallatin yet again for LGA775 with a 1066 MHz FSB before they were done with the die. I have the 3.20 GHz/2 MB L3/533 MHz Xeon DP model in my dual socket 604 file server as those are the fastest chips the board supports and they cost $20 or $30 for the pair.

This is nice pic of the Alton Piasa Bird. Used to hang out in the area and considered moving there while in college. Lived close by while in college. Being part native american I always took a special interest in the bird. reynod..yes I am a savage.

I'm using the AMD fx55 today. So thisline caused the 'first' introduction on L3 cache into Intel processors? Can you tell me what data is involved specifically being procesed with L3 cache? Data that would otherwise not be eligible to be held by the CPU for processing with L2 cache?

Old folks are going to be employed building roads and bridges to improve the nation's transportation system. The idea was discussed over a beer with the VP and Joe Biden told Obama his idea for the old people was [exlpletive] important and a sign of greater things to come.

Sandybridge..,what will the unit do differently than current CPU's L2, L3 cache wise with an on die onboard video processing unit. Also, do you think AMD will follow Intel's lead immeduiately with Bulldozer. I built a new 785G system last night for one of the ofices. When using the onboard ATI 4200 video processor, how exactly is the processor 'caching' or running the MB data into RAM then feed into CPU's cache for processing. How do it do it? Thanks.

There are French women without hairy armpits? I always used that attribute as a potency generator. Now L3 cache makes perfet sense to me. When will L4 cache be available to catch whoopsies of L3? Hopefully soon. My L2 is so outdated. I don't know how this e8400 continues to even process data. C2D is leaky at best. And my Ram controller is missing. ASUS had to put one on my MB to get past the leaks. I'm on to something.

I have unobtanium leaking from my AMD Athlon 64 FX55 no? Maybe it's the onboard hydraulics that run the onbard video processing unit that have weakened? AMD released this black version with unlocked doors, but the hydraylics are not producing any video anymore. I like the ondie PSU the FX series offered. Why do away with tha? I must be confused? I wanted the extended warranty on FX's early Bulldozer hydraulics video lifter and ondie PSU. I couldn't make AMD believe when I informed them my chip was unObtanium worthy. I'm gonna get me a 6 core hydraulic UnObtanium chip with everything on die like you suggested. Hey the new chips have ondie widescreen and Blu Ray?

Only the ones with dual dipsticks
Try retuning your ondie regurgitator, so its not so loopy, reducing the needs for L2, or, Ive heard use LN2 (L NOT 2), so your LN1 is larger, or simply, it increases your L1
