Although I did expect Mozilla to do quite well,it will be interesting to see how many of those statistics will include the earlier released final version that came out on Monday of this week the 20th,March,2011...

so, [citation][nom]Nexus52085[/nom]Good point. I would guess that the lack of support for XP is hindering some of IE9's attachment rate.[/citation]

Another question too, though. This was released Monday. This is Wednesday. Saying it blows IE9 out of the water in first day downloads, talking about it at 10am today, would be on the third day. What was IE9 at in the same time-frame? I use Opera, personally, but, the same time comparison would be a little more fair.

I should also add that I have got windows xp pro & it can only go up to IE8 & not IE9,so I would not be one of those IE9 downloads on their first day,nor any other day until I get at least a windows vista or windows 7 o/s...

IE9 was only for Win7 users only and FF4 was for all (win/osx/nix) right? Not a fair comparison

[citation][nom]dark_lord69[/nom]I'd be interested to see the browser speed tests again with thie one included.[/citation]

I can say that FF4 is much faster than FF 3.6 but IE9 is still faster in most of the test I ran myself. Its faster in Spyder and better in hardware acceleration.

But I think THG is going to redo the tests and add FF4 to it.

[citation][nom]dragonsqrrl[/nom]It was made available via an update for me, unlike IE9 which required me to install through an independent download. I'm thinking this probably had something to do with the significantly higher adoption rate.[/citation]

Pretty much. IE9 has not been added to Windows Update and can only be installed if you download it from the site. FF gives a update notice so many more people running FF3.6 will be upgraded to FF4 than people who are on IE8 on Vista/7 will be moved to IE9.

Of course I wonder out of those numbers did the people upgrade and then their plugins stop working. I know a lot of them still don't fully support FF4, thankfully ABP and one other I use does support FF4 else I would still be on FF3.6.

Is it just me or do you find Firefox 4 a little buggy. Nothing major just little things that I have noticed. I think that I will report them and see if they get fixed in the next update. So far I have not noticed any bugs with IE9

[citation][nom]Meaky[/nom]Sure are a lot of people downloading it in Japan..seems..strange.[/citation]

no the shiney stuff on japan is radiation, not downloads

[citation][nom]saint19[/nom]wow, where are the 2.3millions IE9 users?[/citation]

Surprised there aren't more. With the sheer number of enterprises running Sharepoint, IE has a huge advantage (integration wise) over FF and Chrome.

but it seems that (if downloading from the official mozilla site) the downloads are very slow and take a very long time! i think their servers are somewhat overloaded with these millions of donwloads!

Not so strange when you think about it. Lots going on over there to keep people online.
With 'Net news surpassing newspapers and approaching TV as the #1 source of news for a large part of the world it's no surprise to me to a lot of those citizens are online looking for news updates & analysis. And that's not to even touching on the social networking, contacting friends & family, etc.

Sounds like FF4 is the stuff - wish I could try it. After installing it it asked me to reboot to complete the installation...after every reboot it says the exact same thing. Guess I'll stick to Chrome and IE9.

I call B.S.
FF4 does not need to reboot your system after installation

Call BS all you like - google it. It is a flaw in the installation that others have run into as well.
