Hello everyone!

I know there are millions of threads here and I'm sure there is something i missed but that's exactly why i ask for help.

First of all my specs as i remember (i am at work right now):

MoBo: Asus Rog Strix x570-e gaming (BIOS 1.1.00 as i remember)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900x CPU
Graphics: XFX Radeon RX 6800 XT Speedster Merc 319 Black
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 64GB 4x16 RGB @3600mhz
AIO:
Thermaltake Floe Riing RGB 360 TT Premium Edition
Case: Thermaltake Level 20 GT RGB Plus
Paste: Thermal Grizzly
m.2 SSD: Corsair something 2TB
SATA SSD: Samsung Evo 860 2TB
SATA HDD: Western Digital Red 8TB
Monitor: Zowie XL 2735 2560x1440 @144hz
PSU: Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 1000w 80+ Platinum

So now to get started:
I did build my first AMD PC over the last 3-days now. Yesterday i did finish with building it and started to power on that beauty.
The PC startet and i got to the UEFI. First i noticed, that the screen was cut-off where the Asus Logo and the UEFI-Tabs should be.
But the UEFI BIOS was functioning so i stepped further.

I did choose my usb stick for booting and installing Windows 10 Pro.
It did boot but the screen was still cut-off.
For installation it asked me for drivers - (first time in my life that W10 did ask me for drivers for installation but boots for installation but okay)
So i took another usb stick with all drivers and did approach the installation again.

As i booted up again, i noticed at the splashscreen and "hearing nothing" that my FANs and AIO Pump are not working. (I got that and found out that my Thermaltake RGB Controller is malfunctioning, but i got another one because TT Case and TT AIO, so i took the other one (only 5 FAN connection points) and let 2 case fans off because missing connection points but the rest is now spinning and glowing and the Pump does it's work (Connected the Pump to the CPU pin port, is that RIGHT? Because the MoBo itself has 2 other pin ports CPU_OPT and AIO_PUMP but at the internets i could find only to connect it sometimes to CPU and sometimes to CPU_OPT)

Well okay now again back to my problem:
I did boot up again the Windows installation with the cut-off screen --> it installed --> then i proceeded to install the drivers from the ASUS website and my Graphicscard Driver (well the Graphicsdriver from ASUS wouldn't want to install but the driver from the AMD Website did install) and after that the Screen wasn't cut-off anymore. (That's where i noticed my pc is running a bit hot because Pump not working and i got sometimes bluescreens when installing drivers)

So okay then i did power off the PC (Did not pull the cable). Then i was troubleshooting like a madman to find out the issue with my Pump and FANs not reacting to anything. Well i have two controllers and they were connected via bridge. So i disconnected the bridge and powered on and the FANs connected to the second controller started spinning and RGB Glow was going with it as well, BUT the connected FANs and the Pump to the first controller still did nothing! (At this point i did not look at my Monitor screen. So i changed the Critical Parts (AIO pump and 1 case FAN = 5 connections) to the working controller and voilá the pump was working.

BUT now as i looked at my screen it was black! No Signal Detected it says!

Now to what i have done yesterday before going very frustrated to bed:

Cut power off of monitor, PSU, Displayport cable, waiting 5 min., 10 min., Hell even 20 min. and 30 min.
Changed BIOS mode of the Graphicscard to another mode (XFX modell has a little switch to do that) and of course setting it back again as well.
Checking all mobo connections if they sit correctly. (man what a mess, i did of course do my best for cable management but still there are so many cables the worst is at the PSU i have no room of maneuvering xD)
Changed from D-Port to HDMI
Changed from Monitor to my TV next to me
Let everything cut-off from Power through the night.

After getting up (very very exhausted because off nearly no sleep because of that issue) this morgning i plugged everything in before going to work and tried it again but again nothing happened at the display screen!
PC boots up normally as i can tell from its behaviour.

Monitor, tv and cables are working because i have my old rig (i7 4790k, 1150 Socket) next to my new one and everything is working with the same cables.

I hope someone can help me because I'm very frustrated, angry and sleepy. 😀

Greets

P.S.: As i get back from work later i will try to reset CMOS (battery or circuit method with screwdriver but without jumper because i don't have one) and do a BIOS Update because there is a newer version available, pulling off all RAM-Sticks and trying to add one at a time, trying another graphics card (taking my old gtx1080 from the old rig). I hope this wil do the work! i will check here back later, doesn't matter if it worked or not. I will inform then about every step and if it solved the issue or not.

FIRST i will do the rams, SECOND the CMOS Reset and THIRD will be the BIOS Update and LAST resort will be the thing with changing the Graphics card.
Ah and if one asks--> the Graphicscard is connected via 2 8-pin connections. First i had 1 cable with 2 8-pin connections plugged in but i did as well try to plug in a second cable extra for the second 8-pin connection.

Cheers

Solution
Can try and update the bios (or reflash) to the latest version via "Asus Bios Flashback",

see if this helps.

How is the gpu installed btw? If using it vertical and with a riser cable look at that as well, test with the gpu in horizontal position with it directly in the pcie slot.

Good plan, CMOS reset would be my first move even on new MB. For new Asus boards, to completely clear BIOS need to do both methods as there are some hidden features. Took me a while to get that. although you would loose time/date so will have to set that first so BIOS flash would not get confused.
For memory, adhere strictly to where to install them according to MB manual.
That GPU is pretty much a power guzzler (although not as much as XFR 3080/90 so enough power has to be applied. If you still have problem with screen, try to reset monitor itself thru it's OSD, as resolution and frequency in while BIOS are pretty strange ones. There should also be some settings in BIOS regarding PCIe the GPU is plugged in. Might want to check that too. That switch on GPU is most probably for double BIOS and one is optimized for mining. Update chipset drivers from AMD site before flashing new BIOS. It actually consists of 8 different drivers some pertaining to PCIe operation.
Ram sticks are a bit of a ah heck to install, pay attention to that. for some reason, top end MBs tend to have very tight contacts.

Thanks for the Replys @CountMike & @Vic 40
I will try that later when i come back from work. Yeah i guess it could be that the CMOS Reset or BIOS Update (or reflash) could do the trick but we will see.
The Switch on the XFX Card is a RAGE MODE. It's a one-click overclock for the card. The Card is more Gamer oriented.
To Update the Chipset Drivers i first of all have to boot up 😀 And that's the issue, that i don't see anything even if it's booted. But i have updated everything anyway as i wrote in my opening post. (everything from ASUS Website for my Board and the Graphicsdriver from the AMD Website)

So we will see how it goes later. :) But thanks for the replies.

Greetings

Well hello guys.
I did have an hour break, and because it isn't that far to get home i got there for some minutes (because i needed to eat something anyway) and i only had time to make a BIOS Update, @Vic 40 i did make the Bios flash via the flashback button with an old usb 2.0 device. It did update and then my pc booted into the UEFI bios. Atm my pc is idleing at the UEFI because that's where i had to go but i didn't want to shutoff before saving everything and making everything worse.

Something i did notice, because i asked my GF just to take a picture from what's being displayed at the monitor is, that my idle temps even just in the BIOS are very high.
They are balancing between 50 and 65 degrees Celsius. From my Radiator does atm only 1 fan the spinning and the pump, because of disconnected cables, but even then the Temps are very ver much too high?

Later after Work when i get home, i will save all the settings at the bios and reboot, just to see if everything is correctly and report back to you guys. After that i will attempt to reposition the Cooler, change the thermalpaste again and check if i didn't overdo it and yeah i think temps at 30-40 degrees celsius should be realistic when idling if the aio cooler would be shut off? I'm still not sure, if the pump is really working. The fans are working (with the controller problem staying, i did order an bigger controller but till then i have to survive) but the pump? i cannot say it for sure.

I will report back when i get some news!

Hi everyone @Vic 40 . So well the bios update did in fact do the trick. But there are still some things that I don't understand. My uefi is still cut off and my radeon software adrenalin is theoretically in my system but I cannot start it. I don't know what this is all about. But at the moment everything works fine.
I did manage to repair the one controller.
So yes everything is fine and running at the moment. I did try to get some cable management goodness going but still I need some time and pacience 😀
Now I'm migrating my data from the old rig to the new one, installing everything and seeing how it works. Stability wise there will be some testing.
But again I don't know what is going on with UEFI.

Cheers and good night.

Hi @Vic 40
Yes I tried reinstalling adrenalin but it turns out like this every time. It installs and then goodbye no adrenaline.
That's with the uefi is what I wrote in my opening post.
My screen was cut off maybe 1/4 of the screen beginning from the top.
In uefi and windows too.
But after adm driver installation via adrenaline in windows everything is fine.
But the uefi is still cut off like this.
Simply where the tabs and Asus logo should be, there is black .
Very strange.

Hello everyone and happy new year!
I wasn't at home so i couldn't test anymore than that.
Well but yesterday i did test more and get pretty good results!

@Vic 40
yes they did.

So most of my problems are solved now! Adrenaline is normally in function now. I did use DDU and at this point my partial black screen did return even in windows mode, but after installation of the driver it went normal again.
But as i can say the cut_off screen in UEFI mode persists! I think it has to do with my 2K screen i guess. Because the screen is dictating the resolution as i can see. This will need some further testing and maybe another lower resolution screen to test it out.

My temps are easy going again. My controllers do a pretty good job now so it's good.
Thanks again.

I will do further testing with the cut-off screen and report back when and if it is solved. My simple guess it's because the Screen is dictating the resolution and in UEFI the MoBo can't show 2560x1440 and that's why the phenomenom occurs.
I will try at lowering the output resolution in Monitor Menu and another 1080p Monitor which i have to pull out of my basement.

If someone has some questions for the whole problems or how they could get solved, feel free to ask. :)

Have a good one!

Hi @Leridan

I've got the same motherboard and picked up a Sapphire 6800 XT. On bios 3405 I'm seeing the same "cut-off" issue in the UEFI bios where the top 5th of the screen is just black. It was the same in Windows until I installed the graphics drivers.

My monitor is 1440p too (Benq XL2730Z).

Did you find the root cause?
