Hi all, I'm building a system for the first time and this is what I've got so far. Are all these parts compatible and do you think it could be improved or money saved for the same performance?

I'm going to use it primarily for gaming, I'd like to get Battlefield 3 on full settings (apart from motion blur at medium) at around 60fps, lots of streaming of 1080p videos and lots of browsing the internet. :)

Motherboard has integrated sounds card you dont need another one
Your ram is with high heat spreaders which can be trouble when installing cpu cooler, you need low profile ram
Intel ssds are not known to be good
That PSU is too powerful, also without a price like cooler.

Thanks very much for the advice. So I won't lose performance buy losing the sound card? I'll change the RAM. Are you sure the Hyper 212 EVO will be enough to cool the CPU? I intend to overclock to about 4.2GHz.

The hyper 212 is plenty for that overclock as it's fairly small. No performance will be lost by not having a soundcard, it's no the 1990's anymore.

Go for a cheaper motherboard as the sabertooth isn't worth the money and used the saved money to get the DCUII asus 670

The Hyper 212 evo is a pretty decent cooler, i dont think you'll have an issue achieving that clock speed, many people here have and recommend it.

You only really need a sound card if you're doing high quality music production work. For general use and gaming, the on board will be more than enough. Its 8 channel HD audio with digital out.

Okay I'll go for that then.

Okay got rid of the sound card.

This is what I'm on so far after making recommended changes:

What performance benefit am I looking at by doing that? I thought the sabertooth was one of the better MoBos?

So will the Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard serve me just fine?

And the on-board audio is still fine for the v-lx so still no need for a discrete sound card?

Yep, the sounds great quality, got mine coming out of the digital out into my home theatre system and the sound is top notch.
