So ive never built a computer before and recently as im getting back into alot of pc gaming and my laptop just doesnt cut it anymore im looking to build a high end (ish) computer. im not the most tech savy when it comes to computers and have gotten a little lost looking into it all, ive been on a few build websites such as "origin" but the builds with the parts reccomended is sending upwards of three thousand, my budget is from 1000 to around 2.5 if its the right build, any ideas? all help is much appreciated thanks.

Solution
Those 6800k's may not work, without a bios update. X99 is also a quad channel platform. For just gaming, a 6800k is not necessary.

Can it play every game on the market at its highest setting? Yes. VR ready? Yes.

Replace the 4960K i5 with Core I5-6600K if you want a bit more horsepower.

Replace the EVGA 970 FTW with the 1080 founders version if you want the best of the best.

OR Leave my system as is and buy the Oculus Rift as well. That will still come in at least $300 below your budget.

It is best to post your television specs when asking about a new build. The resource needs of a 144Hz 4k TV will be much higher than a 60Hz 1080p television.

This should be pretty good- and probably overpowered.

This has been exteremly helpful, thank you. However I got onto the website you used using mostly your format for the build, but there doesnt seem to be any option for the intel i7 6800k to purchase. Is the 5930k or 5820k worth using? also ive decided to go for a full tower, with the cooler master storm stryker in mind, would the build above work in either of those? thanks a mill for your help

Here is the build:

Windows 7 for $11? I don't think so. 970 with a 500B? Why? And what do you need the cleaning solution for?

That motherboard would need a BIOS update before you can run that CPU but that looks pretty good. If you can squeeze a Samsung 950 Pro in your budget that would be a significant improvement over a 850 Evo as well.

The 212 evo is not good enough, for a 6800k. It "may" keep things at a safe temp, at stock, but forget about any kind of overclocking. A 212 is something one would normally pair with an i5, though there are better coolers, at a similar price, still. For a 140w, 6 core beast, I would step up to something like this.
