Hi,

I am looking for some opinions, I made a build and was sure i wanted it but i've been doing more reading and some comments from Reddit and I'm second guessing myself.

Let me know what you think, buying in the next week. I've read that with the 2600x I'd be better to go with the b450 Tomahawk, and I've been told to save money the Radeon RX 5700 would be a better option, then my primary selection of 2060. This build has a 2070. Anyways enough rambling. Would really appreciate some feed back.

Thank you,

I think the 2070 is the best choice. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/YTfsq4 this build includes more storage, and a better CPU, at the expense of a cheaper monitor. I went with the Tomahawk, as I have been recommending it around here recently due to the fact that it supports MSI Flashback. This means that, before you put the CPU in, you can update the BIOS to Ryzen 3000 support. Once it's updated, put the 3600 in and off you go.

So is upgrading the bios not an option on the X470, cause i had done some reading and thought it was fully compatible with the 3000 series. Could have been a misunderstanding on my part.

edit* Thanks for replying.

That's a solid build. The only two things I would change are.
  1. The memory. I'd purchase a g. skill ripjaws kit with 14 cas latency with samsung b-die
  2. I wouldn't even bother with the 250gb ssd. Use that money elseware in the build.
THANKS!!! I put the 2 hard drives in there at the suggestion of others, that if the OS crashed you could reload only the OS, you don't think that's requirement or necessary?

I will look at the price of the ram, I might live with the 2060 save the 120 and money from the 250 SSD and get that ram you suggested.

Thanks for replying :)

I took your suggestion, here is the new build with the 2060, the ripjaw ram (14 cas latency b-die) and removed the 250GB SSD, Saves a good chunk of cash, thanks man!

There is some logic to the suggestion about having the two dives and using one for the system. However the probability you will encounter that scenario is less likely. I personally would try to squeeze in a RTX 2080 with the price difference, but you could also use the cost difference to 14 cas latency b-die memory, as it is more expensive.

The ram I've used is cas latency 14 b-die. I live in canada the price for the 2080 is almost double the 2060. I'm happy for the time being with the 2060.

The read speeds on that drive are ridiculous
