Been waiting quite some time for the intel price cuts and now that they are getting close, I figure it's time to start locking down my system components. I plan on using this computer for moderate gaming and moderate video encoding as well as all the normal stuff people do. I'd like to keep my total budget in the $1600 USD range. I have never overclocked before but I think eventually I would like to try to get 3ghz out of the q6600. I will be reusing the mouse, keyboard, and monitor from my previous PC. I also already have a license for vista business x64 so I will not need to worry about budgeting for that.
Here's what I have so far:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017 (~$270)
CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16835154001 ($60) -- I believe this will fit in my case?
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813128050 ($130)
RAM: 2x G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820231065 ($260) --I'm open to suggestions on the RAM. I've heard these g.skills were good which is why I've included them for now.
GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130071 ($390)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822148136 ($120)
PSU: SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817151028 ($160)
DVD drive: Samsung DVD burner SATA with lightscribe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827151141 ($39)
Case: LIAN LI PC-7B plus II http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811112099 ($90)
Total: ~$1519
Are there any glaring compatibility issues with these components? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
