First Time Installation Questions

I'm building a new system and this time around I'm putting my OS on a Crucial M4 64MB SSD (in the mail). After reading through the Tom Hardware SSD sticky I planned on doing all the Win 7 tweaks as well as doing everything I can to minimize writing to the SSD to stave off performance loss. I've got multiple hard drives and plenty of space so this isn't a problem for me other than the nuisance of reconfiguring the save locations for 'My Documents" and saving non-essential applications to HDDs.

But then in one of the SSD forum discussions it was mentioned that performance loss was no longer an issue for the current generation of SSDs and aside from a few tweaks (TRIM, Defragmentation and Indexing) the rest of the strategies were no longer necessary.

Here are some questions I have:

1. Has the current generation of SSDs overcome the issue of performance loss that was explained in the Sticky articles?

2. Do I need to turn off System Restore and disable the Recycling Bin? System Restore makes me feel comfortable as it has been helpful in the past. And while I rarely use the Recycling Bin it is another feature which I like and would prefer to keep.

3. Since my new system will have 16GB of RAM should I go ahead and configure Firefox to save to Memory Cache?

4. I leave my current system running 24 hours a day and restart when needed. Except when I go on vacation my PC is running. Can I do the same with my new SSD?

Thanks for your help!!

I would keep the system restore but turn off hibernation , you can also reduce the size of the page file since you have a large amount of ram or you can move it to another hdd. With having a 64gb SSD you are going to be more concerned about space management then performance. I have had a 64gb SSD as the OS drive and it seemed like in no time I was at close to being full and had to start manageing space.

I was planning on disabling PreFetch but wasn't sure about PageFile. I've disabled PageFile before on my Netbook but never moved it to another HDD.

I was worried about the small size of the SSD too but could barely afford it at $94 let alone a larger version. I plan to install rarely used applications to one of the HDDs to save space. I've never installed apps on a different drive than the OS but as long as its doesn't result in a significant loss in performance for that app it shouldn't be a problem.
