Build Advice Is this a decent build ?

I'm trying to upgrade my MOBO, CPU, and GPU, but I'm not sure if I'm getting the best price to performance ratio with the budget I have which is $500 to $700. I've already made the other post and I looked at their suggestions and I like them. They all brought me into the present. Then I tried making my own build that allowed me to buy a decent gpu with a better cpu.

The 6800 I'm looking at is not $600 and is significantly less like $250 less. I don't know why pcpartpicker is grabbing these prices from these places. I'm also open to other GPUs, because I do play some VR and hoping to get a decent boost from my rtx 2060 (which isn't even a super). VR is also not that big of deal. I'm not sure what to buy if I'm getting the best performance for the money I'm spending. Can anyone give me some input?

Do I really need to upgrade to current gen CPU and MOBO? I mean if I did this I couldn't buy the GPU. The last gen CPU and MOBO a really cheap and I can just slot in my current DDR4, even if I couldn't DDR4 2x16 is cheaper than DDR5 2x16. I'm just trying to get significant performance gain without having to pay over 800$.

Pcpartpicker is getting their prices from weird places for most products. The 6800 I'm looking at is $359.99. Definitely cheaper than the 7800xt and 7900xt.

Yeah that’s more fair. When I saw the price pc part picker showed I was kind of like wait…

One other route you may consider, look into a decent Intel ddr4 motherboard like a b660 or 760. Though sometimes you can catch a deal on a z690 or 790.

But you could pick this up to start. Basically similar performance to the 5600x

The one good thing on an Intel build would be you’d at least be able to slot in a 14th gen Intel CPU later whereas with the socket am4 setup you have no upgrade options.

If you have a Microcenter near you, you might check them out. They are usually doing good bundle deals.

This is a good build, but I'm not really sure the the slight increase in FPS is really worth the price increase this CPU has over the 5600x. I mean I'm buying a 5600x at $124. The 5700x is barely aiding in performance while being $20 more. Not sure if it's worth it or what would make it worth it?

I don't have any first hand experience with those chips but for $20 I think I would go for it for the longevity (2 extra cores).

Honestly since the am4 platform is end of life, if this is a build you intend to run for a while, I would actually suggest considering the 5700x3d. It will set you back about $200, but should give you pretty good gaming performance for the last years of am4.

If you plan on keeping this computer for more than just a couple years I highly suggest you get a 5700X3D so you can ride AM4 off into the sunset. With a 6800 it would be reckless to keep the PSU you have. I added an appropriate PSU to the build. Also, the Gigabyte motherboard I chose is much better for the same price. I noticed you did not have a CPU cooler for the old build either. I added an appropriate cooler for the new CPU.
