Question Fix to temperamental Chromebook charging?

My Chromebook (Acer CP311-2H model N17Q8) recognizes that the charger has been removed and reinserted, but often when it displays the "Calculating..." message in response to such action on my part, it shows only the time remaining, not the time to full charge, and it doesn't charge but continues to use up the battery. This charging issue appears to be not uncommon . It is becoming a real pain. Has anyone here managed to determine the cause and the fix?

If your Chromebook is under warranty, perhaps contact Acer and see if they can do something about it. If it's beyond the warranty period, you should look at a replacement battery, it's what I'm assuming is the root cause of the issue.
