Well for the linus tech tips team, they do have Linus mentioning the F@H/BOINC/Mining teams almost on a weekly basis (on his WAN show).

Just as an Example for this week with the build logs segment (most of the time, they just mention there overall stats).

It may also help them that I've been assisting them (essentially since from the teams creation) with getting F@H working, tip's and tricks to max out there PPD from there current machines, and giving them the little bit of history that I know about F@H. 😗

think I may of given that team the advise of getting linus to mention the F@H on the wan show (or at the time, it was called Live show).

Maybe I shouldn't of done that.

Yep, I remember your helping them

But I am glad you did, it is exciting to see that many new people joining, even if it isn't to our team. And it gives us some encouragement to get our points up (as without them nobody would be on our overtake radar).

Wait, why are you awesome? Did you inheret it? Genetically engineered super-human?

You've got the Midas touch for some reason. Please, oh golden one, please tell us the ways of your awesomeness.

No seriously, please do...

These are my proposals for a multi-team (meta-team) race. Please read it, there are substantial changes to the race in 2014, proposed.

Comments always welcome, of course. Either here, or in the linked thread, above.

Answering an earlier question about how last year's race was received:

EVGA and OCN didn't like it, because it allowed "outside recruiting", and they have no buddies to recruit - they're at a disadvantage.

The rest of the teams liked it, very much. The proposals above include a proposal for Tom's Hardware team to race as it's own team (part of the larger meta-team). I hope you will consider that.

Questions and comments always welcome. Preferably in the linked thread, above, but here is fine, also.

Fold On!

Um..... because i like helping other and helping people to fully take advantage of things? 😀......

Other than that, I cant really explain it.

Just helping them take full advantage of there hardware and utilize any advertising platform that they got (in this case, they get linus on youtube to mention it.)

Basically same thing here. Although we just cant get Tom's hardware to advertise the team for some reason or another on there articles. (Unless they have and I just haven't notice.)

That's really IMO the only true way to grow the team is to get Tom's to mention us (mainly I'm looking at benchmark reviews).

Most of the regulars on the forums already know about F@H and have decided to help/not help with the project. So we really need to target the readers that are outside the forums.

Probably for the same reason that most of the community hasn't decided to give it a second thought. Either they aren't even aware of it or don't really care enough about it for it to take priority over other things.

OK, but when someone posts a F@H question what category do they post it to? How do I track the tags so that I can find users who need help with folding?

Can you head over to the overclockers.com thread and grace it with a little of you calming Zen. It appears to be a pissing match between the captains at this point and a little calm presence it badly needed to pull things together again.

I kind of like the idea of racing classes. You could break it up into 1-5mil, 5-10mil, 10-20mil and 20mil plus. You could then handicap within the classes without creating such large discrepancies.

The main problem here is that if [H] doesn't race then EVGA has no one to compete with. If the classes worked out closely enough then you could have the classes race each other collectively.

Could you head over and comment.
If we could get a few more teams involved we could pair Overclockers with EVGA and they would be a fair match for Hard. A few more smaller teams added with Group C in his proposed list would then negate the need for handicapping.

Is it possible to contact the other Folding teams somehow?????
Was not sure if your connections at F@H could send out an email or notice of some sort to advertise the upcoming competition.
If so, it could become a good advertising format for F@H and even maybe Toms also.
Maybe get some of the big wigs of folding involved to help promote F@H.
If we can get a lot more teams involved ,we might be able to get more websites promoting it. So If TH promotes it we could attract more folders to our team.

^ I believe that is what adak has been attempting more or less single-handedly as CC chair. I think that the more teams get involved the more visibility can be raised for F@H and science can only benefit. The fact that it gives us a legitimate reason to openly advertise and recruit on the forum (Its a race!) is just icing.

I don't believe I have any other communication methods (the folding team leader page is extremely basic). The only way I can see communicating with them is posting on their forums, which adak is already doing (with mixed results).

wow... that thread went down hill quick.....

Although seams that things "may" have calmed down already before I had a chance to get on.

Although if it flares up again and if i'm on, I'll see what I can do.

Now about [H]ard..... I dont think they will do any F@H competition as a team for a long time. (except for the few members that do help out once in a while.)

From my understanding, the year before I jump on the first CC for tom's (even though I didn't mention that one to the team until it was all said and done), there was a huge fight internally that created bad blood....

So "as a team" the officially sign off on all future competitions to prevent any future bad blood.

So it might be years before that even consider doing another competition (when there is a lot of fresh blood that has replaced the current established members.)

You can add it to your "timeline". That tag has not been "blessed" like tags for more popular or broader topics* so it probably won't show up when you search for it so that you can follow it. However, you can add it to your timeline using this hand-crafted link: http://www.tomshardware.com/follow/tag/folding-home/follow.

It should then show up here with noticeably less pizazz than other tags you've already added (if any), and you can see any new threads/posts here or at the bottom of the forum root.

*See the CPUs and Tom's Hardware tags at the top of the page. They have buttons to follow them right there, will appear in searches for available tags (with a pretty name instead of a hyphenated, lowercase one) and will show some basic stats on the "Manage my tags" page. There seems to be multiple levels of blessing, ranging from none at all right through to having a link just under the site header to a tag page (eg. http://www.tomshardware.com/t/cpus/), with the latter being reserved for the most popular stuff. I will see if I can get it to level up so that it at least shows up in tag searches as a recognised tag.

Yea, it is quite sad really. on both accounts. I want to fold again, but don't currently have the hardware to do as well as I would like to. My old GT 240's used to do well. One is going to my mom's rig so she will have HDMI, and the other needs a new fan. Might hit up Ebay and look for some older Nv cards that used to fold well for cheap. IIRC the GTS 450 were decent little cards at one time too.
