BTW, I've done a WU (or was it two?) on the 960. The fans were barely trying to keep up which was quite surreal. The heat from behind the case was also very minor. However, it was way too CPU bottlenecked to be any quick. If you have a well balanced system with a compact case, or are looking for something useful even in summertime, this might be a good buy. Although looking at higher end Maxwell might be better if you're main goal is FAH.

Any news on those PPD numbers?

I have a feeling EXT64 turned something on... 😀

Meanwhile, I'm approaching my summer shutdown. Looks like I can break 15 million first.

And then who knows, maybe this summer I'll be buying a 300 series card if they turn out well.

Have to ask, is that UMD as in University of Minnesota Duluth? Don't know how it compares, but I only live about an hour from it. I have a couple of friends who did the mechanical engineering program there.

Also, hi to the team again. It's been a while since I checked in.

I did turn something back to folding, but it resulted in a small spike, not that huge one.

That huge one was from internal testing. Sometimes internal testing gets points during the final stage (during points tuning). Sometimes those points get "forgotten" and not awarded until the server is hooked up to the official stats system (in preparation of going to beta). So the spike was from days of WUs.

Edit: I take that back, looks like it affected a lot more people - I know there was something recent about NaCl points, anyone here run that?

I thought it was related to a WU in advanced, 9142(?), where the WS did not relay points to the current stats server. All I am running is a 970 so whatever it was is related to GPUs.

Lots has happened in that amount of time!!!
Lots of teams have lost a lot of folders,
We go up and down a little but pretty much slow and steady.
We have a small core of dedicated hard core folders who fold 24/7/365 to some who fold for the winter months and shut down for summer.
We always have people dropping and starting so it is a semi constant output.
Not well or even slightly cohesively organized, we seem to endure.

That would be University of Maryland. I won't be attending there though. Going to UVA. Let's see how that turns out.

Well, good luck. School's fun, but you have to put work in to get something useful out of it. I just finished my degree today actually, so hopefully that means more compute power that I can turn on once I get a better job.

Looks like it's fixed. Wish we got 3 million points every update :)

well, just like a boomerang. i leave and eventually come back to this thread.

sorry that i keep disappearing and reappearing. I just keep staying busy.

A little status update of myself. Still with job corps but not the original one I been with in at Harpers Ferry, West Virgina.

I've exhausted everything they could do for me out of certification wise and now I've transferred locations to all the way up to Devens, Massachusetts at a new Center furthering my education. (Devens, MA is about 1 to 1.5 hour drive away from boston, ma.)

While i was at my old center, i've already mentioned of getting my A+ certification a while back, not too long ago i got my Network+ certification as well.

Now at my new center, Im currently enrolled in the ACSA (advance computer sysyem administration) program and will hopefully be getting the microsoft MCSA certification for windows 7 and server 2008 (at least from the info given... I been seeing 2012 work done though....). This class is expected to take about a year but could be longer.

So yeah, I just keep grabbing everything i can get my hands on. 😀

*oh yea.... might as well mention about the lowly IC3 certification that i had to get upon arriving on this center... some requirement this center has for ACSA students when they first get here. They have to get it so the center can show the Higher ups that transfer students are willing to work or meet a "get a cert in 90 days" requirement thing.... i dont know. All I know is, if they had enough vouchers for me to take all 3 exams (only had 1 ready for me), I would of finished it in a day or 2. :sarcastic:

Oh well, A+, Network+, and IC3 are currently under my belt.

Well, right now... Im not 100% sure.

This class is opening up many more possibilities than I imagined when I first enrolled to job corps, I'm kind of overloaded.

It originally was to be a IT specialist for an organization or company before i came to job corps. Like what I seen when i was in high school. Someone maintaining systems and networks.

Well, now that I'm thinking about is, I guess that would be close to system administrator....

Although i'll keep my options open. While I have learn a decent amount about what this trade offers, I know I haven't been here long enough to see all the options that is offered.

I know for Work Base learning there is 2 companies that work with ASCA Job corps students to give them real world training. One of them has the potential to land you with a job at another company for full time employment.

Pretty sure the name was Tech Networks of Boston
http://techboston.com/

and some one very recently just had that happen to them were another company was visiting them while a student was working there and they wanted to hire him.

So while it might be still a system administrator or IT specialist, those plan could change while im still on this center.

Oh btw, I realize that I never mentioned about my new (well now new-ish) system that i have. Dubbed the "traveling raven"

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/PPd6Mp

Had it for a "little" while now...... 😗

I love this little machine. decently budget friendly (for now), Fast, compact, can fit most hardware that i would want to throw in it, upgrade-able and can do what I need it to do without it lagging. I can actually game decently! (better than the old intel graphics)

Although now im going to have to do something about that beta windows 10 issue... Seeing as that the full release is coming out next month... (thought i would have till October when it launch. If following previous windows launches would be a good indication but i was wrong.)

And no, I haven't folded on this system yet to see how it would perform. Between unstable phone internet at my old center and transferring to another job corps center which i sadly dont have the Traveling Raven with me. I wanted to see how the center is before I would trust having a system here, I just haven't really had the opportunity to really test that.

Plans sound great, and you have a year to learn about all of the possibilities.

That is a really neat case and build. I always wanted to try one of the really tiny builds, but never did. And as I have zero need for another computer right now I've managed to clamp down on that addiction
Between getting back into my home theater hobby and a new house I'm tapped time and money wise.

I can't help but notice there is a space for a discrete GPU in that build 😀 😀 😀 😀

I can't help but notice there is a space for a discrete GPU in that build 😀 😀 😀 😀

That's why it's "budget friendly for now" 😀

I plan for a GTX 970 or R9 290x (or what ever there equivalent will be in the future) although that wont happen for a little bit.

Want something that matches or slightly exceeds my needs while not being to much of a killer on the wallet. While at 1080p (the max resolution my family has), I think those gpu's fit the bill. Being they're better for 1440p gaming, these 2 cards (or equivalent) should last for a while without the need to be upgraded so quickly.

lol yea might as well.my poor ol i7 and r9 280x are on full 25/7'j ust wonder how long they will last

how do i get the donor rank thing at the bottom right of your post please>?
