Thanks, I have been trying for over 2 weeks (almost 3) now to get some sort of recognition for this problem.

We did get one article that hinted that more was going on, and I got a PM from the author stating he would like to do a follow up to more of the intrusions, but the head editor was very hesitant to run this article ,much less one that spelled out all of the tracking,spying, and data mining in win10.
Microsoft is a very powerful corporation and did not want this information revealed during the launch of win10.

If you read the article and the authors comments in the forum, you will find that he hints to what I have been posting, without directly stating it.

I have a hard enough time keeping things turned of on my win7 box, especially bing, which seems to magically turn itself back on every week, week and a half. Mostly after updates.
I understand that the sites I visit are paid for by advertising, but I will not put up with all of the tracking cookies all of them try to place on my computer. Blur for IE and Ghostery for Firefox, websites still get ad monies and I do not get tracking cookies.
I guess Microsoft decided that Google gets away with all of the data mining and tracking in the android operating system, so they may as well cash in on it also with their new operating system.

About the only thing I can think of is DX12.1 and knowing microsoft it will not be allowed on 7 & 8 so you have to downgrade to 10 to get it.

Did you turn off the P2P option for Windows update? If you turned off all the other stuff, during setup, that is probably what your upload packets are from.

Welcome back mate, and I wouldn't bother with W10 on a folding rig if I were you as it is pretty pants, apparently.

"Trust Microsoft" isn't that like the definition of oxymoron? Each new OS has had more and more intrusions. With being able to disable them hidden farther from sight.

Lots been happened, as you mentioned

Haven't got round to setting everything up properly yet but slowly getting there.

I remember trawling through the services.msc in XP disabling services, used to make a huge difference to the performance of the machine but I suppose when you have to do it to protect your privacy it ain't so sharp.

Gonna set it up on a slave drive and have a play, will print out your extensive list of disables, I have a mate running W10 and he says it doesn't seem as stable Folding as W7 does, shut down errors, will investigate.

I lost my Mum back in May to cancer so I feel your pain mate. I have a few cards on the go at the moment, 2x 970's, 2x 660Ti's, 1 GTX 960 & as R9 380 (or 7950 if you prefer).

1. Are you still a mod or just a guru of gravy?
2. What sort of points do the 970's produce? Are they oc'd??

I picked up a 7990 to see what it would do, its chucking out 300k but also chewing up about 600w!

Now why won't this sig work, has Toms got some issue with the badge makers that I don't know about??

If I just type something in my sig box it works fine, badge is within spec, what's up?

A 970 is all I fold with (when I am folding). I had it OC'ed but the new beta core was giving me hell (driver crashes=lost work units) so I stepped it back to factory (1101?). It generally runs between 220 and 240k. Core 21 can pull an extra 10-20% from it but you pay for it with increased temps and reduced system usability -- Netflix won't even stream smoothly when it is running.

Are you formating your sig with brackets?
