Oh, I just lolled out load:lol:

And again:lol:

Enjoy your hols mate, I may well be firmly ensconced by the time you get back though! 😉

Here's something to have a giggle about whilst you are chilling out http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-radeon-r9-370x-launches.html , they're at it again!

I just got back from a short 4 day break myself.
Went back to Tallulah Gorge State Park so we could finish all of their hiking trails.
The new one down into the gorge bottom should be on everyone's bucket list.

Hey guys, looks like the more things change the more they stay the same.
Pretty much same posters as when I left along with a few new adds.
Y'all have been doing great! team was at 50 when I left now 28-29!

things settling down a bit for me :)
got family moved to SoCal (LA) :wahoo:
still commuting for work to Detroit (half the house for twice the price):pfff: :pt1cable:
New home has solar so my $/KW are very low:bounce:
Ambient temperatures 90-100F:fou:
not sure how new office will take the heat-getting time to find out 😉

Current setup:
ASUS P8Z77WS
Intel 3770K @3.5GHz
2x8GB Mushkin Redline 1600
CM 212+ Cooler
MSI TwinFrozr GTX680 2GB & GTX660Ti 2GB
Samsung 840Pro 256GB
WD 2TBCaviar Black
2x ASUS DVD
Seasonic Platinum 1000W
Win7 Pro x64
CM HAF X Full Tower

Advice please!

the 660Ti didn't survive the move west so needs replacement
but...
what's changed in FAH? seems like GPU dominates and no real reason to upgrade the CPU to SKYLAKE i7, TRUE?
will I contribute more with a 980ti (whose runs quietest) or should I look for two single slot GPUs
Have read somewhere that the 980Ti is almost as good as the 40% more expensive Titans
Will not use liquid cooling (gota save water during the drought ya-know)

Your thoughts?

Well Beanos having a typical British holiday, sitting under a canopy outside a bar on the complex watching the rain fall☔️

Still kids r swimming with Grandma and Sister, gives me a chance to have a quiet pint with the missus

Careful with the free WIFI and banking.
My sister -in-law checked their account on free WIFI and got their account emptied.
Totally ruined their vacation.

Thanks Rick, still thought the encryption on the banking site wld protect me even on free wi-fi, hope so anyways.

R9 390X for folding, any figures anyone?Looks good on paper, only £40 more that a GTX970 and much cheaper than the 980.

It depends on if the bank has an encrypted app for your phone or you log on through a web browser on your phone.
Beware if downloading bank apps there are a lot of fakes that look real. Probably what happened to her.
I have to redo their computer every couple months. They download everything they find for free, Games, widgets, pointers ,screen savers, toolbars ,had 5 toolbars loaded at one time, you name it .At least now their son is old enough and interested in computer, I have him on a regiment of running Malware Bytes scan, C Cleaner and disk defrag weekly. Which cuts down my support calls from them a lot.

Just thought I'd stop in and see whats going on. Looks like 40051 has come up from 52 to 28 since the last time i checked. Congrats.

Looks like pulling bigadv caused a lot of sore ass, a lot of other guys running bigadv on expensive servers hung it up like I did.

A lot less active users and teams. Thats too bad.

I've got a 4 slot mobo i may put some gpus in and start up again. I see mousemonkey passed me up, can't have that.

[:mousemonkey:2]

GPU folding for the win.

I've been looking for an upgrade on the second-hand market, but it's been pretty tough going. AMD cards are few and far between around here, and Nvidia cards are so expensive. I bid about $320 for a GTX 970, that wasn't enough. Of course VAT is part of the reason, but still...

For you Lubuntu users.
After a couple blinks of the power last night, I have a problem.

Folding loads and tries to upload the last unit it finished.
Starts folding the last unit it downloaded.
Upload will get to 9-10% then everything resets and starts over, and over and over.
Then I get a prompt to upload an error report to Lubuntu, and F@H closes down.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 3 F@H packages and updating Lubuntu.
did not work.
Same problem.
Before I wipe the hard drive and loose both work units is there something I can try to fix it?
Total Linux noob here so please be specific in you answers.
Thanks ahead of time for all help.

I am not an Lubuntu user (only used Ubuntu) but maybe this will help?

But, to answer your question, the software is called Jockey. Try running jockey-gtk from the Terminal, or install the app with apt-get.

Otherwise, you can install the drivers via the terminal.

NVIDIA:
Code:
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

AMD/ATI:
Code:
sudo apt-get install fglrx

Thanks I will try the Jockey when I get home this evening. Am at our store now, I work it on Tuesdays so I can do all of the paper work and sales tax reports.
This box is CPU folding only , no graphics card besides the onboard Intel device.
