but everyone was waiting for the new amd and ehat a flop that seems to have been,8gb of memory but still performs normally against nvidia card.i nearly bought a 390 but this 8 pack thing saved the day phew glad i saw it.it looks so sexy with its black shroud and hall of fame in bright white light..and a world of OC to do with it.ceramic compasitors etc,some saying they have hit gpu clock at 1500mhz and its possible with an OV to get it to 2000.[i wont be doing that lol

The gaming performance is fine. And I'm very happy with my 290 on that front, given its price was closer to a 960 (or 380) than a 970 (or 390). Just folding that isn't all that amazing compared to Maxwell.

At least it's rock solid though. No errors in my log for the past week.

I have been getting a lot of server assignment problems lately.

I see Mouseman must be getting some failures also with the random points returns.

Maybe more people are getting wu failures but not actually realising as the system continues to run!

As I've run two 170w cards on a 620w PSU I reckon you'll be good to go with a decent 650w or 750w PSU.

Yeah with the CPU overclock and probably running a lot of the time, I'd shoot for 750W.

Running electronic components at a constant temperature (even a high temp) is much better for their longevity than the hot/cold cycling that comes from turning everything off at night for instance. Going overkill on the PSU is pointless.

Switching subjects I set up a couple of laptops with W10 on.

They nearly got thrown out of the window, things that annoyed...

• msconfig - start up items moved
  
  Microsoft Edge.....No comment, IE support until 2023, yey!
  
  No option to disable automatic Windows update, unless you disable the whole process via services.msc
  
  Apps, boxes, weather, xbox tiles, WTF!!
  
  Login with a password, annoying.com (I realise there are ways to bypass this but what a pain in the arse)
  
  All the getting to know me and send info to Microsoft crap that needed to be turned off.
  
  To be honest after a few hours it wasn't as bad as it was initially but some things do make you scratch your head in disbelief!!

Just checking in. I can't seem to get the numbers you guys are getting. Awesome results. I'll be building my son a new computer for Christmas and I'll set up folding on his as well. I've also been folding on my Android phone, but I don't see any way to apply that to the team. Oh well, it's still helping the cause. I'll be putting the AMD vid card I have in my computer now into my son's computer and replacing it with a GTX 970 in mine. We'll see how that goes.

Did you get your pass key and insert it into the client?
Without it you do not get the quick return bonus points.. Makes a huge difference in points received per Work Unit.
I run with the Power slider at full on all three machines. Albeit lower power machines but it is what I have and they get run at their max.
#1 - 2p E5420 @3.0ghz 20-25,000 PPD under Lubuntu
#2 Core2 duo GTX460@850 GPU only under Lubuntu
#3 AMD 6 core@3.5ghz SMP5 =11-12,000 PPD & GTX650TI Boost@1267+ 38-50,000 PPD under Win7
