for folding what cpu would be best the 28 lane 5620k hex 5630k or i7 6700 skylane. they are all ddr4 and about same price

both.i use the whole lot 24/7.been folding practically non stop since my dll breakdown [dam you Ccleaner] im just a bit confused .iv heard the 5820k hex and 5830 as an enthusiasts cpu and the i7 6700 more as a gaming cpu .i do game and i fold i also like to OC cpu ,ram as well.so im looking for the best of those worlds before i spend.i am going to make this my last build for a while [HA!] and will look at the new Nvidea cards when they come out.although my HoF 980gtx is a great card maybe fold with both as i can get 16x on all lanes 5820/30k wise [i hear]

I'm assuming the 5820K would be significantly better. The quick return bonus tends to mean you get more PPD/watt from higher-end hardware.

Speaking of PPD. More WUs that give 330K please...

Need every little thing to help keep Anandtech at bay. They really fired up some upgrades a couple months ago, and even if they're calmed down a little since, they're still within 100 million and closing pretty fast.

i just hit the 20,004,379 point mark with only 1388 WU. i7 oc to 4.6GHz and HoF GTX 980 OC to gpu clock 1354 memory 1753 and boost 1468

the 30 mill club looks a long way off. still might as well have your PC unused clockk cycles being used instead [like my dad who has a intel q :6600 and a AMD tri core just sitting doing nothing with my old xfx r9 280x..,they just sit there all day talking to the net doing NOTHING [except using electric]

So I just started folding and for the first couple of hours it said that I would have around 250,000 points earned per day. However after watching a movie and checking back it now only says that I am earning 50,000 points per day. I fixed it by reinstalling the software but I don't want to have to do that at all. Anyone know how to stop it from doing that? I'm on an i5 4460 and GTX 970

Maybe it stopped folding during the movie? Seems like a big loss in PPD, but with the quick return bonus it can drop off pretty quickly when folding is interrupted/paused for a while. I wouldn't expect it to stop if the "folding power" is set to full, but maybe at medium or low (I haven't used those in ages, so I couldn't say for sure).

Also, the PPD estimates in Folding@Home control can be pretty inaccurate at times.

Your 970 should be getting between 200K and 250K so I reckon your media player is taking up the GPU, which one are you using by the way?

I keep the folding at medium when I watch movies and at first I thought it was just because the movie did take up some GPU power but it didn't return to normal after an hour so I just reinstalled the software.

Your 970 should be getting between 200K and 250K so I reckon your media player is taking up the GPU, which one are you using by the way?

I'm using VLC and yeah when at normal operation it does get around 260k but it just suddenly dropped and didn't stabilize afterwards.

The folding levels don't really mean anything for GPU folding. I would recommend pausing the folding whenever you do anything that uses the GPU. Also, reboot rather than reinstalling the software when you get a problem like that. If the GPU is folding really slowly the drivers or core probably just crashed.

I actually did reboot but it didn't fix anything so I just decided to reinstall.

Your tpf might have gone up due to a bad wu hence the drop in ppd.

Yep no hyperthreading and mostly it's just the app and Edge

flicking from full to medium changes your points per day too..welcome btw. we need all the points we can get..Do you have the ol original i5 or the skylake one?I could not wait and got the devil canyon i7 4790k but thinking or trading in for a i7 5830k

Just a random question but why does is say that I've earned around 41 million points but only 40 thousand go to my team?
