I took the battery out thinking I was going to reset the cmos and now when I turn it on nothing, I mean blank, no start up screen or cmos just blank like you never even turned it on.

I hate to reply to my own message but maybe some more info might help, this is my friends computer he said he had put sweet i.m. on it and did not like the way it looked so when he un-installed the program he could not go back on line, he did something wrong, when I looked at it you could not un-install anything, so I tryed to re-wright the drivers and it would not let me, kept on giving me errers, so I thought that he must have got a virus because the bios settings had changed, since I was the one that had put the computer together, so I started from scratch long format the drive and flash the cmos, It was hard to get to the little jumper so I pulled the battery out and back in, now zilch notta, so if anyone could give me some advice please let me know it will be much apprieciated.

Sounds like you zapped your motherboard pulling the battery, dont do things on carpet, and always click the power supply off and pull the cable out, and if possible hold the case or ground yourself when you have your fingers near hardware, it takes a minimal amount of electricity to shock a piece of hardware

I have a foxconn board, talking the battery out doesnt seem to reset the cmos, and after the system just refuses to start up.

You have to use the reset cmos jumper.

Thanks for the help guys, I have moved the jumper over then back and I did get a start up screen, I think I did not wait long enough or something because when it did let me in to the bios it would not let me move anything it was like it was frozen up or something and after a minute or so it just shut down, so I started it back up and all I got was two long beeps and no screen just black, so I think it is dead, throw it in the closet with all the rest of the old computer junk. Hey but thanks for your help, if any one else has any suggestions please reply. Thanks Steve

beep codes are different depending on the BIOS type. Off the top of my head 2 long beeps meens its a ram fault.
One continuous beep is a cpu fault (just incase u get that).

Look at ur motherboard manual to see exactly what the codes meen.

Thanks Lee I will do that tomorrow.
