HI just hoping somebody could help me i just bought a 75Hz Acer monitor and found out it had amd freesync and after looking online found out that it works with nvidia GPU but eh option to enable it doesnt come up in the control panel i have a feeling that its something im doing wrong but dont know what i have updated all the drivers and checked for compatability with my GPU (GTX 1060 6GB)
i have also tried turning on and off vertical sync on the 3d settings.

any help or tips would be great

thanks in advance

IMO, if you can return this monitor, do so. Shop around for (actual) G Sync compatible monitors. Where you can "force" G Sync on many models it typically doesn't turn out to be ideal, which is why they don't get the official compatible nod.

If you can't return it, I would fall back to V Sync and settings that allow the system to run as close to or over the 75 refresh rate as it can. Dips on V Sync are quite noticeable.

I agree although I would add if you want to play reaction based games such as FPS or racing then V-Sync adds noticeable lag and puts you at a disadvantage. You can use an fps cap. Not as good as V-Sync for eliminating screen tearing but no lag added.

Then you cannot use Freesync on an NVIDIA gpu. What you are trying to do is actually use G-Sync on a Freesync monitor but this can only be done using display port.

On My Other setup i use the same pc but i have a 144hz freesync monitor with a display port will it work if i use that instead?

The 1060 6GB was aimed at the 1080/60 medium-high settings target on release back in 2016. Its abilities were never considered groundbreaking for Nvidia, even then. I can only imagine that for it to lock a target of 75 frames that other considerations to settings, scaling, and possibly resolution would have to be made. I would consider the small amount of latency added by using V Sync to be a small part of the consideration where dealing with screen tear and crippling dips to half frame rate. (of course, this is all very dependent on the game load)

On top of this, the monitor is 'old enough' or on the value end of the spectrum enough that it doesn't even offer DP, which is HUGE for a monitor advertising Free Sync capability.
