Hi All,

My windows 10 is all of a sudden "Preparing Automatic Repair" there isn't a spinning emblem I even left it for about 30 mins and the pc didn't restart. I have a Asus UEFI mobo. I have tried everything changing ram, changing bios, It freezes when I try and boot from USB and DVD really stuck on what todo from here as i have so much on my hard drive that i really can't lose.

thanks in advance.

Update: I installed a fresh windows on another HDD and I am up and running. but the new windows copy doesn't load if the other HDD is plugged in even when I change boot sequence.

download and create this: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/

That disc has lots of things on it: http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd probably even a drive tool that can test your old drive, it seems to have the lot.

Do you want any of the data off the old drive? I don't know if anything on that bootcd lets you copy your files, it might.

Otherwise there is a good chance you can use one of the drive tools on there to wipe the hdd as I think having two windows 10 drives both trying to boot at same time is confusing system. Alas, its not like IDE discs were you could make one the slave drive. Odd it happens at all if you have the new drive as first in boot process.

It has honestly completely baffled me why it's doing it I would like to get some files off the old drive but I shall look into the Hiren's bootcd thank you. I have ordered and external enclosure in hopes that I can access the files on the hard drive via usb.
