Hi,

I have an MSI GS66 Stealth 10SE, had just upgraded from 2x8gb 3200mhz Crucial ram to 2x16gb 3200mhz PNY XLR8 gaming ram last Monday (May 30th, Tonga time). It worked fine. Then come Saturday (June 4th), the laptop would freeze when left idle. The cursor won't move, won't respond to keyboard, clock has stopped at the moment it froze and won't hibernate when i shut the lid (but should according to settings). No choice but to force shut down by holding down the power button. Same thing happens after booting and leaving it idle. Only when a program is running in the background (such us imaging my partitions) will it keep itself from freezing. Decided to switch back to the old Crucial ram and left it idle after booting and so far it has not frozen.

So what is wrong with the PNY ram? Or did i do something wrong?

Perhaps see if the laptop is pending any BIOS updates. On that note, what OS are you working with? If you're on Windows 10, please mention the version(not edition) of the OS.

Sorry, it's on Win 10 version 21H2. Regarding the BIOS, I have problem accessing it as the laptop screen is absolutely defective and always connected to external displays both of which remain off throughout POST and only turns on when it reaches the log in screen. I can't find any workaround to access the BIOS on external display for this specific model so far.
