not sure if this is where to post it...please move accordingly, thx in advance.

The rundown...
I've been receiving COMPLETELY RANDOM freezes. Everything locks up, so not software related(i assume). The system is getting old(4 years), however i have NEVER had any real issues with the setup. I work in flash on a daily basis and it seems to crash more often while using that program, but is not limited to that. It's locked up browsing, listening to music, etc...

I've done as much as i can as far as trying to pinpoint the problem. Here is what i've narrowed it down to

1. Ran extensive RAM tests, swapped RAM, still froze
2. HDD spins up/works fine, still froze
3. removed ALL unnecessary components(pci cards, drives, etc...), still froze
4. Had EVEREST open when it froze, temps under control, no power spikes, everything looked fine, still froze
5. Event viewer shows nothing out of the ordinary.
6. GeForce 7600GS doesn't get hot, also tried 3 different drivers, still froze
7. Swapped power cords, power strips, outlets, still froze
8. Virus scan = 0
9. Ordered 9mm and hollow point bullets for future use if needed lol

What am i forgetting?
So MY personal opinion, considering the mobo is ~4 years old that it's shot, but it works for multiple hours before randomly locking up, so i don't know. Also, everything works fine and dandy for multiple hours, then WHAM! FREEZE. Any pointers/tips?

You didn't mention your system specs or your power supply. I just swapped out a faulty psu and solved a random system freeze up problem.

lol sorry, i was going to but forgot.

Intel D865PERL mobo
P4 3.2 ht processor
Enermax EG351P-V 330W ATX power supply
Nvidia GeForce 7600GS(AGP)
1.5 gigs RAM
WD 250 gig HDD

Since you tested your RAM, I would look to the PSU. Definately could cause randowm shutdowns/lockups. If have a spare to swap it out with, that would be a good start. You will need spare parts to diagnose with, trial and error style.

well...i was going to start a build in the next month or two anyway, so i might as well start with a power supply as i don't have a spare.

Planned build is this so far. Any ideas for a power supply that would power this that i can also use on my current setup until all the pieces are bought and payed for? and/or suggestions on a better setup?
