not sure if this is where to post it...please move accordingly, thx in advance.
The rundown...
I've been receiving COMPLETELY RANDOM freezes. Everything locks up, so not software related(i assume). The system is getting old(4 years), however i have NEVER had any real issues with the setup. I work in flash on a daily basis and it seems to crash more often while using that program, but is not limited to that. It's locked up browsing, listening to music, etc...
I've done as much as i can as far as trying to pinpoint the problem. Here is what i've narrowed it down to
1. Ran extensive RAM tests, swapped RAM, still froze
2. HDD spins up/works fine, still froze
3. removed ALL unnecessary components(pci cards, drives, etc...), still froze
4. Had EVEREST open when it froze, temps under control, no power spikes, everything looked fine, still froze
5. Event viewer shows nothing out of the ordinary.
6. GeForce 7600GS doesn't get hot, also tried 3 different drivers, still froze
7. Swapped power cords, power strips, outlets, still froze
8. Virus scan = 0
9. Ordered 9mm and hollow point bullets for future use if needed lol
What am i forgetting?
So MY personal opinion, considering the mobo is ~4 years old that it's shot, but it works for multiple hours before randomly locking up, so i don't know. Also, everything works fine and dandy for multiple hours, then WHAM! FREEZE. Any pointers/tips?
