So i boot up at 12pm...i play diablo2 for 5 hours straight. Im in the middle of a game when my monitor goes into powersave. I look down and my pc is off. Although, the power led is still bright, and the mobo power led is still on. So it looks like my pc is on, except when i touch the side of the heatsink, it almost burns my finger...Could it be my cpu (athlon 2800+) overheated in my intense gaming streak, or could it be something, ANYTHNG else that would save me 365.10 dollars Canadian for a new cpu and heatsink....? I'm guessing that your fan stopped and the system powered off the CPU due to heat. If your system simply overheated without a fan stop, it should reboot fine. But if your system overheated BECAUSE the fan died, it probably won't reboot, because the motherboard's fan speed sensor will detect the fan isn't spinning and prevent power up.

well i thought on the new mobos like the one i have, fairly new (a7n8x-x) has the feature that protects when it gets too hot...so maybe you are right and it didnt damage? but the crappy heatsink is still only 8 months old.. So i dont think it died. But theres no way that system is starting up again. I tried starting it again, the led fans did their little blue flash and tried to move. Nothing after that....
