I've got a Thermaltake case and a K8N Neo motherboard and I'm having trouble getting the case's front panel USB ports to work.

When I plug in the additional rear-case USB ports that came with the mobo, all ports work fine, but I don't need 8 USB ports in the back of the case, I want a couple on the front. When I try to plug in the front panel USB ports, whether the extra rear-case ports are plugged in or not, all USB ports no longer work.

The connector for the extra ports that DO work has nine contacts, one of them is empty, and the 10th spot is blank (a key).

The connectors for the front panel ports are similar, but are separated into two connectors, one row of five contacts each, and each contact has a wire, so instead of eight wires on the connector that works, the one that doesn't work (the front panel USB) has 10 wires.

I hope that wasn't too confusing of an explanation and hopefully somebody will have an answer! Maybe I should clip the extra wires?

The FIFTH wire is a redundant ground (case ground, as opposed to port ground for the fourth wire). It should be black. That wire needs to go over the blank spot. The other cable goes on in the same orientation, so that both red wires are on one side and both black wires on the other.

With the front usb connectors on some cases, you need to leave pin ten unconnected a la http://forum.msi.com.tw/thread.php?threadid=58571
Good luck.
