Are you using an 80-conductor ATA 66/100/133 IDE cable? If you're using a
40-conductor cable, you won't be able to get beyond ATA 33. Some
motherboards will detect the the type of IDE cable connected and will limit
the ATA modes based on what cable it detects.

What is the make and model of your hard drive? For example, Maxtor, and
Samsung made ATA133 HDD's, but Hitachi/IBM, Seagate, and Western Digital
only made ATA100's.

You can check at Seagate's web site. For parallel ATA HDD's, the fastest
drives they made were Ultra ATA/100.

Using the 80pin ATA cable negates that harddrive being able to slave a CD
Rom to it...right [a 40 pin EIDE device]? Or is the 40pin data sorted out
anyway (for a slaved 40pin CD Rom). I put my CD Rom on my second IDE
channel as a master device [luckily, I don't have a lot of data/storage
devices so this works ok for me]. But it would still be nice to know for
future reference.
