HI I have this system configuration:AthlonXP 2200+, 2 HDs Western digital 40 GB and Seagate 20 GB , 7200 rpm both, 256 DDR400 Apacer, modem, Sony DVD 16X, Teac cdrw, Samsung 250W power supplier, OS: Win98 SE, gonna install WinXP pro soon.

I i'm thinking of radeon 8500, radeon 9000pro, radeon 9500 (even a little expensive), GForceMX460, with 64mb all. I've read here many problems with almost all theese chips and i care more for stability than performance Can you suggest me any vga with good performance and mainly compatible (and stable) to my mobo?
Has anyone tell me factually for stability between radeon 9000pro and 7vaxp m\b?
thanks on account.

I would stay with the Nvidia lineup on that mobo. I got a 9500 Pro for it and had nothing but probs. Other than that though it worked awesome.

Hi, i had a GForce4 Ti 4200 which didn't work in 7VAXP motherboard, some times even no boot at all. So i'm confused. Which card do you have and which m\b.
Thanks anyway

I had a GA-7VAXP.. worked great with my GF2MX.. but when I upgraded to a 9500 Pro.. which others have as well.. it didnt wanna work for us.. either due to bad driver support and/or just bad mobo compatibility issues. I know Flowmaster on here has this mobo and he is running a 9700 Pro on one as far as I still know.. only prob he had was lack of power. They may have a released a BIOS update now that fixes this problem, just at the time I really didnt want to mess with it.

Ok.

If you have a Geforce4 Ti4200 4x agp card, it will not work with the Nforce2 or the Kt400 chipsets.

At least, right now it won't. You will get either unusable video from the post screen, beeping, or system lockup during d3d games.

A Geforce2 GTS will work. Well on the Nforce2. Spotty on the KT400.

A Geforce2 Ultra will not work.

It seems like as long as you have a really ass old card, or an 8x agp card, then you have a compatible video card with these chipsets.

So those Radeon 7500/8500/9500's aren't going to work, unless Ati is releasing them in the 8x capable versions.

😛 Im here!
I havent flashed the bios and maybe after I get my power supply.
IT blew on my at a lan after overclocking my videocard. 😀
I was just happy everything in my computer still worked.

:)

Most video cards dont work in some mobo(ga-7vaxp for instance) because your setting the bios setting to 8x at which some video cards cant be force to work at 8x and rather designed to work with a 4x setting. So if you have a video card that is 4x barely sometimes is a chance that it could be this. But I havent had problems with anything of mine and that Ive never had to return any computer parts in my life so I cant talk to much.

Well Ancient, my GF4 Ti4200 is AGP 8X but it won't even boot or operates well occasionallly. I think it's something else caused this problem, thanks anyway

Hey Flowmaster, this mobo(GA 7VAXP) is certificated to work perfect with Radeon 9700pro but i don't think is the only strong card which working good with this mobo, i mean i don't want to believe it (it's too expensive ...you know!, the AGP 8X isn't problem (for me at least) because the gf4 Ti 4200 TD8X64 was AGP8X and it's worked fine with other PCs (P3...) which wasn't AGP8X (the 1st test done in AGP 2X !!!! PC motherboard) so... the truth is really out there.... !
