I have 2 memory modules of 512Mb to give 1 Gb, I decided to upgrade to
1.5Gb by adding a third 512Mb to thr 3rd memory slot.
When I added the 3rd memory module the PC wouldn't boot up beyond the
POST.
I have tried to up the voltage by the 2 permissable voltage increses.
+.01V and +.02V both made no difference to the PC.
Is the motherboard able to handle 3 memory modules ?

Many thanks for any help that you can provide.

hi

maybe! but is all three modules the same brand and the same modell? it's
important to use the same modules in a computer and this is crusial if you
have three or more modules. different modules/brands have different
electrical properties, mixing will be troublesome. as you add more modules
the read/write timings and clock signals will have harder to make it, they
have more memmory modules and longer path to travel.

If memory serves me correctly your motherboard only supports 4 banks of
memory. As your two existing memory modules are almost certainly
doublesided they each count as two banks, so adding another memory module is
not going to work (as you have discovered).

Looks as if you are right! Both of the memory modules are doubled
sided. Will have to sell of the module I have 😱(
Only way to upgrade then is to get a 1Gb module

Thanks for the tips.

Andy

I'd just like to say that with my 7n400pro2, i can have up to 4 modules and
3 GB
only 3 of these slots can hold double sided modules, and since there isn't
much of single sided around these days, i guess it reduces the motherboard
to having only 3 slots, but 3 is still more than 2.

Check your motherboard manual and see what it says about double/single sided
modules
