She does play and she's good, she also plays UT2004, and can drive a car.
I had to back away from him, then he let me by, then I took a left with the soldier with me.

Says it costs 400 euro... isn't that a $500 card? for that I can get a 7900gt, a new mobo, and still have 100 left over! This thing doesn't have a niche market, it has no market. And they make 754 mobos with PCI-e, so I can't imagine why anyone would pay that kind of premium for an agp card that's still slower than the $300 7900.

Because if you have a nicely tweaked, well cooled, uber overclocked AGP based rig and don't want to start over again from scratch, then replacing the whole system would be much more expensive.

Moreover, in computer components, builders are usually not concerned by exchange rates: they just charge the same amount and fill their pockets with ca$h by inflating prices in euros - so it may just come out at 400$.

Next, it's strange that they'd charge it 400€ in UK, since UK uses £...

Thank you. My P4 3.2 (oc'd to 3.4) and 2Gb DDR400 run on an older Abit board (AS8) which I bought because at the time, the best AMD chipset was the Nforce 150, and it wouldn't allow my 400mhz ramm to run at that speed. So I went with the Intel solution and AGP because I already had a still viable Radeon 9700 and couldn't spring for a new vid card on top of all the other gear.

I was really stoked when I bought my AGP 6800GT, and I'm glad that AGP is still supported, although I don't think I'd buy a 7800 because that wouldn't be enough of a performance increase over the 6800 to justify $400.

that`s 7800gs not gt my friends 8O

Check the article, Fanis. It's a 20-pipeline card. It's simply a rebranded 7800 GT.

Yup, and a higher clocked one at that. 7800GT's are clocked 400/1000 up to 450/1100 for a superclocked version. So 425/1200 and 20 pipes is pretty decent. I'd like to see it tested vs a 7800gt on our Uli systems.

Too bad it's not available in the USA and probably won't be. Not that I'd be buying a 400+ AGP card anyway. Got my EVGA OC 7800GT for $255.

Talk about reading an article in THG, and seeing a bunch of jealous PCI mofo’s!! It’s great to see how gullible you computer nerds are. PCI this, PCI that. AGP is dead, AGP is only dead if you want 64bit... 64 bit for what... You guys bought into a new concept that is before its time. Yet still yet to be utilized to it’s full potential. Negative comments on AGP when it’s still alive and kicking!

This 7800AGP version is only going to spark ATI to bring out something. Then of course the price wars again will begin, as it has with PCI..

Who knows what will happen in the pc world when DX10 comes out. So if you (PCI) or an AGP person puts up $400 + on a video card that will only be DX10 compatible. Then so be it, let them be!!.

Just look at this as something great for people as myself that have no reason to put up they’re system on Ebay yet, and leave the NEGATIVE comments to yourself.

Same person ripping that AGP is dead is just the same person who had a old ass TI-4X00 when BF2 came out and was crying the blues. So now your scared to get caught behind everyone else.

yes i`ve read the article my friend...and i`ve seen the picture also...but what confuses me it saids cleary:

Once we plugged the Gainward 7800 GS in our AGP testing rig we expected that the card had to be slower than the just reviewed EVGA's 7800 GS. You can check it here. Gainward's card is clocked at 425MHz core and 1200Mhz memory so it was natural to expect that this card will lose against EVGA 7800 GS 460/1350 MHz.

so no a word about the gt stuff.......the picture cleary shows that is actually a gt ..but could it be posible downgraded or samething ..could the gs be a gt downgraded...confusion...the point is that is cleary labeled as an gs...the name saids so.......
remember the x800gto....same of them where actualy x850 stuff.. and the chip cleary said that (ati marks them in numbers like r430 and so on not cleary x8xx)...but there was no doubt about it ....the final product was x800gto.........

maybe same tricks could unlock the card...........

They were expecting a 16-pipe 7800GS with 512MB of RAM, but clocked lower than the evga super clock. So, I think what they were saying is they didn't expect the 512MB of memory to do much and the higher clocked evga would be faster. But as it turns out, it's a 20-pipe card, basically a bridged 7800GT with good clock speeds and 512MB of ram.

Believe me, knowbody would like to see AGP live on more than me. Problem is, my 6800U isn't cutting it for my gaming tastes and the best performing cards are only made in PCI-e. Even this gainward, which is not available in the USA, would $100 more than a pci-e 7900GT or X1800XT, making it possible to buy a mobo and one of those faster cards. AGP is dying because of ATI and NV not releasing their top gaming cards in AGP anymore, as well as the fact the best AGP cards available are so expensive and don't compete well with their = priced pci-e.

Look at the X850XT. It's $300+ in AGP and $155-$165 in PCI-e. The AGP is just as fast, but who twice the price.

Yeah, $255 for a EVGA CO (1 month ago) was too good to pass up. I have tested it some but am not really gaming on it yet, as i also bought a DFI NF4 ultra D and will migrate my best parts over to that machine and reinstall the OS. I got real busy build/tech calls wise so spending time on my own project became less appealing. And then Stinking-fun Oblivion now has me gaming any chance I get, so the upgrade is on hold again.

By the way, that PCI-E/ AGP board is a piece of ****, how could you recommend that to anyone ?
There's one ASROCK board that is ok (I think one of the regulars around here has one, rugger maybe?) It uses the ULi1685 (IIRC) chipset, which does actuallly natively support both AGP and PCI-E.

All the others hook the 'AGP' port into the PCI bus, and perform badly, and I've heard some can even damage cards 8O .

So anyway, "that PCI-E/AGP board" should say "Almost all of those PCI-E/AGP boards, except the one that does it properly"

Cleeve and I both have the Asrock Dual Sata II AGP/PCI-e, others have mentioned it too. It's not an OC'ers dream mobo by any means, but it's still the very best of what it does. I have no complaints although Cleeve would have alot more time in actually using his so he could comment more. I have not heard any complaints from him so far either.

That will be a nice place to put your 7800GS. SHoot for the price, I'm thrilled with mine. I use it to test cards and hopefully will get the time to do some benchmark comparisons.

WHERE TO BUY ONE OF THESE 7800 GT AGPs ?
I can't find it on NewEgg of CompUsa yet.

Any ideas? I will also search the Gainwards web-site.
Planning any trips to the UK soon? That's the only place I've seen it online. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7800AGP_Series.html
But it says preorder now(I sure thought it was in stock before, maybe not).

If you searched online you will notice Gainward USA is a dead link. 🙁

I was hoping to get a 20 pipe AGP card before getting new everything.
Just don't need a 20 pipe card badly enough to fly all the way to the UK from Caifornia.
To bad the US does not get lots of cool stuff (like fancy cell phones)
At least some eletronics are cheaper in the US, than in Shanghai for example.

Gainward N.Am. went belly up aabout 6-9 months ago. I remember mentioning it (and mournign it like the loss of Hercules). They are now only available in the UK and ASIA until the various outstanding financial issues in N.Am. are resolved.

Great cards, but I guess the marketplace is too competitive in N.Am for niche/boutique companies.
