Game like Freelancer?

Oldest thread in the world still going?
The guy on about paying for Eve....i been playing the game 2 months and have yet to pay a subbie and most probably won't as you can use the in game currency to pay for your playtime.
Nifty idea.

Isn't that roughly 300 Mill ISK for one month? I'm sorry man but in order to pay that bill and still have play ISK, you gotta be doing some serious grinding of sorts.

Hi all, i'm also a freelancer fan and was wondering if anyone knows if it can be played on a vista os? it wont play from normal installation but i was wondering if theres a patch or anything to fix this.

did you like elite... Do you remember elite..

then try the new free versions updated .

there is agreat version by a russian ( in english) and then there is oolite and jjffe and a gl version

and freelancer wont play on my vista so a play it compatable mod.. it works??? but...

( N.B not in manual . but to speed up game time.. cos some of the flight time is zzzzZZZ.. press "p"= pause and then right arrow key ( a few times) then un-pause . it will speed up time.... then press 'p'' againn and press left arrow key ( same number of times) and it will slow back down)

IF you want elite, just like the original .withits gand pap space cube and 8 galaxies, well the space station has improved a lot.... a heck of a lot .. and the game play is the same......THEn get to....

BUMP --- 2.5 years later!

I am still looking for a game that is like Freelancer, but is multiplayer.

Is there anything out, or coming out?

Try Taikodem... Just google it and you should find the link. It is free and I feel it's a close cousin to Freelancer; and it is an MMO. You can create more than one character at a time. I have a pilot as my primary character and an explorer as my second one. They do get very different quests/missions. I do hope you enjoy this game. I am frustrated by the dearth of these games out there. There are a million sports games, lots of D&D type role playing games. Also a lot of text based space/strategy games. I would be thrilled if someone started producing a new Wing Commander series, or even updated the original games.

gog.com is a good place to go to find oldies that will run on the current OS's. They are also affordable!!

After reading this thread I want to thank everyone for sharing some great links and suggestions. Wow!!

Thanks for this Thread, really loved Elite 2 for PC and Freelancer too. Hope some day some game like Mass Effect can have space sim exploration like Freelancer.

Maybe we can do it togheter, it will never know 😉
