Game suddenly crashing...did I fry my video card?

Hi everyone,

I've got a Lenovo T510 laptop and have never had problems playing games on it until a few days ago. I've been playing Fallout New Vegas (through Steam), which I played on the same system last year without any trouble, and it crashed for the first time on Wednesday. I've had a few occasions where I've exited the game and had the crash dialogue box pop up afterwards but it's never totally crashed. Now I can't even get it to launch. I click on the icon in Steam, it brings up the 'preparing to launch' box and then the crash dialogue box comes up right away.

I posted this issue on the Bethesda forums and the only respondent is certain I've fried the laptop's video card. I've had no other problems that might suggest this and I can't find any other possibilities. I'm nervous to play anything now until I know whether or not this is the case so if anyone can provide some insight I'd really appreciate it.

First clean your system with crap cleaner:
http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER
Do both the clean and registry

Then defrag. If that doesn't solve your problem (it should), re-install the video drivers.

I can't imagine anything you've done that would've harmed the graphics card (chip). When systems get full of useless program remnants generated over time and the registry gets full of garbage because old programs fail to properly clean up after themselves when they are uninstalled... crashes are a common outcome.
