About a month ago, my games crash after about 10-30 minutes of game play. Recently I have been playing hell let loose and cyberpunk and I have gone played these games for months without any issues. I also downloaded Elden ring today and that crashed about 5 minutes in. I have not done anything different with my setup in the past month, so I find this odd.

  • I just completed a Memory Diagnosis and no issues were located.
  • I also completed a SSD integrity check and everything was fine.
  • I also checked the integrity of the games in the settings and still no problems (I did this in Steam).
  • I also have the most recent updated graphics drivers and windows.

I have had this build for a couple of years with no issues.
With Cyberpunk and Elden Ring it goes back to Windows. With Hell Let Loose I get a "unreal engine is exiting due to d3d device being lost" But I'm always taken back to my home screen. my PSU fan is working. I also have a 2060 Super, so I hope my GPU isnt breaking down. I also installed a game from 1997 and ran that game without any issues and it ran for quite some time, so maybe I am having issues with more demanding games.
This is the first time I am posting in this forum, so I am sorry if this is in the wrong spot.
But any help?

I downloaded MSI Afterburner and did a scan and these were the results:
16:28:08 Connected to MSI Afterburner control interface v2.3
16:28:11 GPU1 : VEN_10DE&DEV_1F47&SUBSYS_13AD10DE&REV_A1&BUS_8&DEV_0&FN_0
16:28:11 Start scanning, please wait a few minutes
16:44:50 Scan succeeded, average core overclock is 58MHz, memory overclock is 200MHz
16:44:50 Dominant limiter
16:44:50 Voltage
16:44:50 Results are considered unstable
16:44:50 Overclocked curve exported to MSI Afterburner

I am assuming this means it's my PSU(power supply)??

You need to check the temps of the CPU and GPU. The GPU was able to boost on avg 58MHz. I would expect a bit more. But without knowing the temps you can't say it's the PSU. Check the temps and Voltages for CPU, RAM, and GPU. We need a lot more info.

I played Hell Let Loose and I was able to play for about 20 minutes before it crashed. I would say the average CPU temp was 32-34, and the average GPU temp was 39-41. The usage % for CPU,GPU, and RAM also seemed fine. But I am not sure how to check for the voltages for the CPU, RAM, and GPU.

More information about my build:
2060 RTX Super
AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
16 GB of RAM

All of these were purchased in 2019, but my PSU is a EVGA 500W b1 80+ Bronze that was purchased in 2016.

Those were Celsius temps per the NZXT CAM. I also started to play Hades and was running that game fine and without any issues. But as soon as I went back to Hell Let Loose or Elden Ring it froze went back to the desktop. I am going to get a new PSU, but I will have to wait until tomorrow to pick one up since it's Christmas.
I am running 1080p

Correct. Most CPUs will idle 30-35, some 40C. Gaming load will be 60-70C most of the time. (assuming standard cooling.) There is no way your system has a gaming CPU load of 34C. That's what it should be idling at. GPUs run hotter, Depending on the card anywhere from 75-90C Some can hit 100C ok. The only way that makes sense is if those are idle temps, which doesn't help us. You need to find your load temps.

Okay I got a Corsair RM750X and installed it and I am still having issues and both Hell Let Loose and Elden Ring crashed.
With Hell Let Loose I got the LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 198] Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 - 'HUNG') error after about 2 minutes. With Elden Ring I got maybe 5 minutes in before it crashed.

I installed MSI Afterburner to help me get the temps. While playing Elden Ring my GPU was between 108-124F. CPU was at 116-131F.

I really hope this is not my graphics card. I have never OC this card and only used it for gaming. I also got it brand new from NVIDIA when it came out in 2019 (2060 Super).

I also just tried to do a bench mark in Cyberpunk and it crashed before it was able to load. At the peak before the crash the temp of the GPU was 135F and the usage went up to 92%

F or C? Why the change in usage? Having a crash because the CPU hit 108C makes total sense. 108F is only 42.2C

The D3D device is the video card. So I'm inclined to think the error is there. Perhaps the card is dying? I'd start by trading GPUs with a friend and see if the problem moves.

F and I am not sure on the usage.

I went to the reliability setting and windows and this is the reasons for the crashes. Not sure if this info is helpful:

Update: I found out that my co worker has a similar build and uses a 2060 super as well. He placed my card into his build and games were crashing, which he says he does not have a issue with his build. I have contacted NVIDIA to see if they will honor their warranty.

Final Update: NVIDIA honored their warranty even though at the time of filing my claim I was a couple months outside of their 3 year warranty. The process with them took some time and they had me complete a ton of tasks. It was definitely my graphics cards that was the issue and they gave me a refurbished card and everything is working great. Thank you everyone!
