So a while ago, I had to reinstall Windows 10 due to some issues, and while at the moment everything seemed to be working fine, there is one major issue I'm currently having. Whenever I run a game in fullscreen mode, the game usually works fine before a minute or 2 before the screen suddenly goes black (or white in some cases) and eventually crashes. I don't get a usual BSOD error, I instead have to manually restart the PC each time.

Looking through reliability history, it seems to be an issue with the nvlddmkm.sys and having a DPC Watchdog error. What's weird about this is that I tried using another GPU to see if the problems still occur, and after uninstalling the drivers (through DDU) and reinstalling, everything worked fine. So to confirm, I retested the main GPU once more, and after going through with uninstalling and reinstalling...everything worked fine. That is, it only worked fine for that single boot, as soon as I turned off the PC for the day and reboot it, the problem reoccurred. Unfortunately, I don't have a close by friend I can test the potentially faulty GPU on another system. PSU voltages seemed ok from what I've checked in BIOS (although that wasn't under load I assume so maybe it could be that?)

Let me know if there are any tests that can help with debugging this

And if this information also helps, I've tested this with a variety of different games, both old and new. Some games such as PAYDAY 2 and the new Modern Warfare (only in the sub menu's though like 'Multiplayer' 'Coop' etc), the screen will go black after about a minute or 2 in the main menu's. Other games like Project CARS 2 and Minecraft however, menu navigation is fine but it's only in actual gameplay, where the screen cuts to black after a minute or 2. One other weird thing is that testing City Car Driving simulator worked one I first tested it, but then stopped working the 2nd time I tested it (without making any changes and whatnot)

I've attached the info collection that they usually ask for over at Tenforums, if you need specific dumps then feel free to ask

(It does say Bluescreen, but I never actually encountered a Bluescreen, it's always either a Whitescreen or Blackscreen)

You can try a clean install, but I'm curious, how long have you had this PC before these problems started occurring?
Only about a month and a bit. When I first got it (as it was a custom-built one), gaming worked fine when I played it. Eventually due to some CPU problems (which I didn't know how to fix at the time) I ended up doing a clean installation of W10. In that installation, again gaming worked fine but the CPU problems still persisted so eventually I ended up doing another W10 installation. This time, gaming wasn't working (the same error as now) and the CPU still had problems. Eventually I found a fix for the CPU, which fixed those issues but the gaming issue still occurred so I did yet another installation of W10 (which is the current installation as of now)

And by CPU problems I meant BSOD's happening randomly. Did fix that issue though so no worries there

Ok, but where did you get the PC from?

Cyberpower

Never heard of them before. If this were me, I'd be pissed and ready to get my money back. If you had it for a year or two before you started having issues, it'd be different. Its been hardly a month and its going haywire. Whoever built this PC for you from Cyberpower seriously screwed something up somewhere. This is why I would not buy a PC off the internet from anyone. I don't care who they are or how reputable they are claimed to be. The only PC I'd trust is the one I personally built from the ground up from a store I can reach, Micro Center being a shining example of one.

Yea I can agree with you there. Only reason I decided to go custom built is because I previously tried swapping cases once and ended up completely frying my motherboard so I was afraid something like that would happen again. Plus there were quite a few good parts that were on sale. That and Cyberpower are one of the more trusted manufacturers or so I heard

the only reason I’m not entirely pissed off towards them is because im not sure if it’s entirely their fault, my fault (as I did install my previous hard drive which although I doubt, could be causing these issues) or UPS fault cause their ground service sucks ass. I’m also confused because it was working fine when I first got it

Unfortunately though, there aren’t that many retailers in Canada that can build powerful PC’s 🙁

Which drive do you have your operating system and video games installed on? The SSD or your old HDD? I don't think this is the issue, but hell, why not ask. Another thing you can try is disabling services that are running in the background. These aren't services you'll find in the task manager. Just type 'services' in the search bar, carefully research each one before disabling it in case you need it. There are a few more things you can try like chkdsk and sfc scans, but we'll get to that.

I currently have Windows installed on one of the SSD that came with the system. As for games, most of the games are located on the HDD that I installed, but some are also located on the secondary ssd (that also came with the system). I also tried installing some games onto the ssd with windows on it (to no avail)

So you tried installing your games on the SSD that your O.S is installed on and it didn't work? That's a new one for me. It doesn't make since knowing its a 1TB SSD. I would have gotten a 2TB SSD, but I'm sure you still have plenty of space. Having them on separate drives isn't going to do anything for you when it comes to performance. This almost sounds like something else Cyberpower screwed up on. I would have gotten my money back.

Okok let's take a break from roasting CP for now lol I think I might have realized the culprit. When I went to do the GPU swap thingy again, I noticed that my current GPU was very loose when taking it out (i.e., I easily pulled it out). Could the error be simply because the GPU wasn't fastened properly? I tried inserting it tightly this time but as a result I can't get any signal from the monitor to show up no matter trying out DP or HDMI.

Possibly, are you sure you put it back in right? Did you turn the PC off first and cut off the power supply from the switch in the back?

Yea I tried that. When I boot the PC, the GPU fans are spinning and the LED turns on, but no signal is showing

Don't think it's an issue with any of the components? Especially considering that the GPU was at the very least running (i.e., displaying signal) just moments before

Anywho, I am currently running my previous 1070ti and everything works perfectly fine, so I think it really was something to do with the original GPU not being inserted properly. Now I just need to figure out how to get that up and running again lol

Ok I'm very lost at this point. Nothing that I do can actually get the card to work in the first place (i.e., display signal). Even not caring about how in place it is doesn't work either

I feel like it has something to do with GPU sagging or motherboard flexing but idk where do I go from here. What I really don't get it why the card is suddenly not being picked up when all those times I did the GPU swap stuff it worked fine?

Honestly I'm inclined to just switch over to Zotac with their mini lineup, at least that gives less physical hardware problems. If only the cards weren't so expensive 🙁

At this point I'd try finding an electronics store close to you and having them look at it like Best Buy's 'Geek Squad' or something.
